Chapter 122 - Proposition

The library was empty. In such a school, you would rarely see people studying in the school library.

⏤ Besides the occasional mana theory studying, which is ridiculous, since the idea of mana in this world is straightforward, I don't see people here.

Julian sat alone, a pile of books on his right side.

A quiet place was a good spot for him to think.

⏤ That sudden attack confirmed it.

⏤ They entered in way too easily. The greatest school in the region? Allowing such a breach?

Julian shuffled through his books, acting as if he was reading.

⏤ It's obvious. It's way too obvious. Eudora and the headmaster are connected, in some way. But in what way?

He tapped his pencil on his book, biting his nail.

"It's Gluttony and Greed!" he burst out.

Quickly, he got embarrassed, looking around. Seeing that there was no one there, he regained his composure.

It could only be those two.

⏤ The headmaster and that woman who attacked us, that's Greed and Gluttony. So it appears killing the headmaster is going to be harder than I anticipated.

Julian stood up.

. . .

. .

.

"I need you to teach me swordsmanship."

"No way."

Arum continued swinging his sword, with unwavering focus.

It felt like he was in a completely different world from Julian. A world that the likes of Julian could never reach without serious effort.

"…"

"What makes you think I would teach someone like you the way of the blade?"

"That's because you're the greatest swordsman that I know."

"…"

— I'll just butter him up.

"It's… like no other. To be honest, I've become enamored with your …method"

Arum stopped in his swing, halfway.

He sheathed his sword.

"I'm not sure what you're trying to do here."

"… I want to become… strong like you!"

— Ah, I really just said that. How embarrassing…

Arum almost laughed for a moment, holding it in. Was he amused?

— The things I do to kill you, headmaster!

"Okay. I'll teach you."

— It was… that easy?

"Really?"

"I mean, you understand my tremendous strength and unique skill. Someone who recognizes that should be rewarded handsomely."

Arum tossed a wooden sword his way.

"I'm telling you now, this will be grueling. I'll teach you a simplified version. Then, you'll have to use the basics and learn on your own."

"Y-yes sir!"

— Is this guy… is he infatuated with himself? It was so easy!
