Chapter 9 - Kuta 02

Kuta was getting worried as she was starting to wonder why everything started to change shortly after it was revealed that she had been a mage. She might have been one all along but she was really one though at least in her eyes she was not. It did not change what she was and that was a weapon user was the youngest swordmaster in the history of the Sabre family. Her status as a mage does not change that as she was not raised to use magic after all but was taught blade skills and the way of the sword. A mage might have revealed what she was but it should not be who she was as well.

She noticed there many servants around her at first as the normal amount that was kept at the place where she was staying for the time being. Her father wanted her to keep the appearance that she was still doing her duties as swordmaster however limited they were because of her age. However, there were things that were starting to get on her nerves that the servants were doing.

With examples being cases like

This:

"What are you doing" Kuta asked

As she would open her eyes from her slumber to see that one of the servants were attempting to touch her arms which were on top of her. As she had remain focus at all time or her arms would pop off. As her swords and arms merged to become her wand which was rare case but she learned various things about wands since coming here.

"Nothing Spellblade," the servant said.

"Nothing, huh? Were you trying to take weapons from me" Kuta said glaring at her.

"Of course not," the servant said

Walking off though Kuta caught the look in her eyes as she was turning around seemingly pissed about something. Possibly the fact that she could not just take her weapons now literally her arms away seemingly

This:

"Why have not you been practicing lately as the swords left for you have been collecting dust" another servant asked.

"I have no need for those swords as I still have my original ones to practice with" Kuta replies confused.

"True but you have not been using them to practice though," the servant said

"Seriously I was literally just practicing until moments ago," she told them.

She did not need to hold a sword to practice anymore when her arms were one with her swords after all.

There were other examples of times like this when the servants came trying to get to do something that did not make much sense to her. They even got on her when she was looking through the books that the mage that told revealed her status as a mage to her behind. They left it behind to possibly give her a reason for why her arms and sword merged to become her wand. Looking over that this might be a unique and extreme case but it was why kids are supposed to be tested for being a mage when they are young. The reasoning is that whatever they focus on the most the most mana becomes their wand later on in life thus are pick things that they would not mind having to use as their wands for the rest of their lives once they come of age. That she was actually lucky that it was just her arms that became her wand as others have not been so lucky.

Kuta just wondering why no one saw things the way she did. The fact that her metallic arms were her wand should be proof of that. The wand reflected the mage and she was literally living their family motto as her blades were not just extensions of her arms but her actual arms themselves. This should be proof that she is a mage that not following the path of magic but that of the blade.

As time passed the amount of servants that were around her kept decreasing until the point where there was only one of them that remained by her side at the place where she was staying. This did cause her to worry but tried rationalizing it away that her father was doing this for a reason and that eventually she would be let in on what that reasoning was. The reasoning should have been obvious to her however she did not think that could be a possible option and thus was not including those within anything she was considering in regards to her father and/or her family at the time. Just thinking they were doing what was best for her unaware they were doing what was best for the image of their family rather than the reality of their family.

As a result, Kuta did not question when she was asked to come with one remaining servant who was with her. They exited not out the front door but out through a back way that meant only for time if they ever needed to escape from something. Of course, what Kuta did not know was that this was just one of the many hidden escape paths as she was just informed of this one in the case of ever needing it. Only the head of the Sabre family was aware of all the hidden exits as their family had rivals and enemies not thus outside the family but inside it as well.

Having never taken this pathway before she just followed the servant as they walked with her all the way to the end of the path where they then came out into what appeared to be a deep forest area. One where it was rather late and night and she could not tell where they were at the moment. Though it was not late at night as the sun had not fully set just yet for it was still twilight currently. The nightly twilight as there were two times of day that twilight happened after all. There was the moment between the moon setting and the sun rising then vice versa.
