Chapter 14 -  on the way-3

"What does it even mean, like… so people are what now? Like, isn't this supposed to be the world where I just got bullied instead of that fat guy from the past? Like, this is strange… weird… uncanny, if I have to say so myself."He went into a deep thought. He just took out his phone again and typed, "the population of Nirean."

The results just broke his mind—the phone slipped from his hands. At the same time, Krunzer stared at his friend's reaction and sighed a bit. He knew he would've been surprised, but not this much. It was out of his expectations. He simply stared at the phone that fell on the ground, then shifted his focus and went into his own deep thoughts, giving his friend time to digest the news.

Over at the side, though, 1—the only one in a present state of mind—just stared at Krunzer and then the MC, and just stood there as if waiting for orders from David to come.

"Damn, my life. I thought I'd beg myself a few coins and buy a pack of #######, but damn… my place selection and my luck today,"1 thought to himself, still waiting for orders."One fool is lost in his thoughts, and the other ##### isn't letting me go. Why did I even sign the contract? Being forced to be loyal sucks."

"Wait… why did I see 1 billion in one scene, and in the other 10 million? Like, what is wrong with my sight? Why does the world have to be this way? I can understand it—and not at the same time. Like, isn't it supposed to be 2099? So why—just why—do we live in this sorta environment? Wasn't it supposed to be just a town? Just how did the world turn out this way? And what Krunzer later said… was it true? Like, this tech could prove it, but why on earth did he say that to me?"He thought to himself, pale-faced.

"Hey, Krunzer… just why did you even say all this stuff to me?" he asked David Krunzer, hoping to find meaning or purpose in knowing this information. Maybe he would've learned it later or found it out soon enough, but why now? Why so soon? he thought while asking Krunzer.

After a few moments of thought, Krunzer said,"Do you think life has a meaning? Do you think, like, when the person you love and care about suddenly disappears, and you—and the whole world—forget they even existed… only through notes would you remember them… does it even have any meaning anymore? So if everyone forgets that loved one, and they disappear, wouldn't it feel like a curse? A misfortune?"He asked, out of the blue—the usually cheerful Krunzer.

Why did he even ask me those questions? And what difference would my answers make? Did he find out I'm not the me of this world or something? I thought, while inside, contemplating his questions.

"Doesn't life itself have no meaning?" I said what I felt at that moment. "Aren't we, first of all, born into this world with no meaning? Like, I don't know my purpose for living right now… but maybe, just to survive in this world, and to feel some sorta accomplishment, we give ourselves some sorta goal to stand by. Without meaning, wouldn't everything in this world be bland? I mean, I'd have already died or killed myself if I hadn't found any purpose to live in this world. But if you ask me about the meaning of life, I can come up with bullshit. But, like, life having meaning is bullshit. If you're dead, after a few decades, you're forgotten—because the people who remembered you are already dead. The only meaning to life is living it till the end, since we only have one life."

I said whatever came to my mind at that moment. I don't know why I even said all that stuff, but it kinda felt good—even if it wasn't the question he asked. Maybe he didn't even ask me that question in the first place.

"1, can you say the meaning?" he turned to 1 and asked.
