They were somehow trapped, and Rowan needed to confirm this truth, or else he would never be able to follow through with any of his plans. He was only seeing one side of an extremely complex puzzle, and for him to understand, he needed perspective.
It was a good thing that he had reached the sixth dimension of Memory, and therefore, he could begin to twist time and space in a manner that no immortal should be capable of. He had seen the way the Primordials treated time and space, and although he could not replicate it, there were still things that he could accomplish.
