"Are you sure you should be doing this?" Lila asked, her expression filled with worry as she watched from the sidelines.
We were currently standing in the middle of the clearing I had previously led her to. On the ground in front of me were the Black Star Dragon Balls, waiting for me to summon Bahamut, my dragon.
It's strange to think about really, the fact I actually managed to create an entirely new Dragon...
"What's the harm?" I asked back, setting down the last Black Star Ball.
"I don't know, the fact that it almost killed you just a few hours ago?!" She exclaimed.
"It'll be fine. I'm already back up to full strength." I said with a small smirk, glancing back at her as I flexed one of my arms.
Lila shook her head and rolled her eyes at me, clearly not having been put at ease by my demonstration. She then walks up to me with with a small smile that doesn't quite reach her eyes, which causes me to tilt my head a bit in confusion before she suddenly smacks me on the back of my head.
Shit, that actually fucking hurt! Goddamn, this woman is strong!
"I'm not joking around with you, Zyleth. Can't you put this off until tomorrow at least? You just had a near death experience." She says to me, a stern tone in her voice.
"Wasn't the first time and it sure as hell won't be the last." I said with complete indifference.
Hearing my response, she shook her head at me again, pinching the bridge of her nose before asking, "Are all Saiyans this reckless or is it just you?"
"You sure you want me to answer that, because you're definitely not gonna like it." I replied.
I swear, a therapist would have a field day with my entire fucking race. Then again, since when has a Saiyan ever needed therapy? I feel as though if we met a problem we couldn't solve with violence, we just wouldn't consider it a problem.
Or just hit it harder.
Now that I'm thinking back on it, I'm honestly surprised just how main cast didn't end up having any type PTSD after everything that's happened.
Especially Krillin.
"Keep being reckless, someday it's going to kill you." She responded with a tired sigh.
"Eh, whatever kills me will just make me stronger anyway." I playfully shrug my shoulders.
"Zyleth..." She said, her voice strained in annoyance.
"Listen, we can either keep on talking about this, which will just waste both of our time, or we can hurry up and summon the all-powerful, wish-granting dragon." I said to her, motioning towards the magical wish-granting orbs that were on the ground.
She looked between me and the orbs before letting out a groan, "Fine, go ahead. But if this ends badly-"
"You can say "I told you so" all the way into the Afterlife. Scouts honor." I said, holding my right hand over my heart as my left reached towards the sky.
"You weren't a Scout." She said with a narrowed gaze.
No, but I am curious as to know how you even know what a Scout is.
Were there Space Scouts now? First Space French and now this? What's next, Space Russian? Space Danish?
...Space Australia...?
Shaking that horrifying thought to the back my mind, I look towards the Black Star Dragon Balls and clear my throat before yelling out towards the heavens.
"Manifest, Bahamut!"
A hum sounds off from the orbs before they shine a bright red color and a giant red pillar of fiery energy shoots out towards the sky.
"That was it?" Lila asked.
"I made the chant short and sweet." I replied with a small shrug.
Wasn't any reason for me to make the summoning chant long winded besides presentation and dramatic effect. And there was also the fact that I'm really not that creative.
"RAAAAGH!"
A sudden roar ripped through the air, sending shockwaves across the entire planet.
The fiery red energy that was souring higher and higher into the sky suddenly sprouted wings, bursting through the clouds and wrapping itself around the planet.
The size of the energy looked at though it was multiplying every passing second.
"Holy shit..." I muttered as I watched the dragon seemingly growing bigger than the planet itself.
After a few more moments, the red energy suddenly dispersed, leaving a massive red dragon in its place.
"I am the divine dragon, Bahamut. What is your wish, my Creator?"
His voice shook the planet by itself, causing us to stumble a bit. His head may have been smaller, but there was no doubt that he was bigger than the planet.
"Was he.. always that big?" Lila asked, looking up at the massive dragon with awe and what I assume is a little bit of fear.
"No, not at all..." I replied softly, still taken aback by his size.
It took a few moments for me to finally pull myself together and get onto business. This was just insane on all levels.
There was also something I caught about his wording that seemed strange to me. When he appeared, he said "Divine Dragon" and not the normal phrase of "Eternal Dragon."
That spun me for a loop.
Did my use of divine energy during his creation cause an evolution of some kind?
"Bahamut, how many wishes can you grant?" I asked, wanting to see just how much of my vision came to pass.
"I may only grant you two wishes, my Creator." He responded.
"Only two?" Lila asked with a raised brow. "That seems like an... awkward number."
"It's a magical wish-granting dragon, Lila! I don't make the rules!" I shout defensively, not wanting to hear any slander against my absolutely badass dragon.
"Wait, but you're the one who made--" Lila sees the look I'm giving her, to which she responds by holding up her hands in an apologetic fashion and motioning for me to continue.
"Thank you." I rolled my eyes before asking Bahamut, "Why can you not grant three wishes like I envisioned?"
"The reason for this number was because the lack of power during my creation. It was only natural, given that the Black Star Dragon Balls you created do not have a any drawback and have no period of grace between wishes." Bahamut suddenly said.
"So you didn't have enough power to make them successfully?" Lila asked, her jaw dropping in disbelief. "How much energy do you need in order to make them how you wanted?!"
"I don't know. Probably a lot more than I have currently. There was a lot that I wanted the Black Star Dragon Balls to be able to do." I answered, thinking about the amount of power I needed.
I guess I would have to reach either Super Saiyan Rose or something above in order to completely make the Black Star Dragon Balls I envisioned.
Probably.
I mean this is a dragon who grants seemingly unlimited wishes by complete magic that we're talking about here, it's not really an exact science...
"Like what?" Lila asked.
"Three wishes, all of which are unrestricted, and no grace period between uses." I listed off.
"Wow..." She said blankly. "Why don't you just wish all your problems away at this point? Pretty sure you could..."
"Okay, I didn't bring you back just so you could judge everything that I do..." I told her, narrowing my eyes with an annoyed face before looking back towards my dragon. "And speaking of wishes... Did my desire for you to have unrestricted wishes come to fruition?"
"No. Whilst I am able to grant almost anything, there are still some things that are not within my power." He responded.
What the hell counts as almost anything?
That's like Draig telling Issei that Devils normally live almost forever. What the hell is almost forever?! Jesus, why are these anime dragons anything but straightforward?!
The disappointing logic aside, I guess it really isn't all bad.
So all in all, my Black Star Balls have no timer, two wishes, and restrictions on things that I probably won't ever find out about. All things considered, one and a half out of three ain't bad. Although I wanted three, two wishes and no timer between uses is good enough for me.
"Thank you for answering my questions. I'm ready to wish now, Bahamut." I told him.
"By all means, my Creator."
"I wish that whenever I raise my hand and call out for the Black Star Dragon Balls, they will immediately fly towards my location no matter where I am." I said.
Bahamut's eyes shined a bright blue color before returning to their natural bright yellow.
"You have one wish remaining, my Creator." Bahamut said.
"Wait, why would you wish for that?" Lila asks.
I look at her with a puzzled expression before I realize why she was asking that.
"Right, you probably didn't see the Namekian Dragon Balls shooting off after you were revived." I said before explaining, "When you're done making your wishes and the dragon goes back to their slumber, the Dragon Balls will fly off into different directions, scattering over the planet.."
"So that's the trade-off..." Lila mutters to herself. "I was wondering how these dragons aren't just used to solve everything."
"Basically." I shrug.
"So your wish basically skips the most tedious part of searching for them." Lila nodded, liking my thought process. "Kind of makes me think of how no one else hasn't thought of this before..."
"It's probably due to restrictions." I said, going into thought. "I did make Bahamut with the goal of having no restrictions, so that's probably why he's able to grant something like that..."
"That's... logically sound." She nods.
Although now that started to make me think about the deeper implications of the wish I just made. Me telling Lila that it was a restriction was only speculation on my part, but there's nothing stopping me from actually testing it out. It could very well be that no one's actually thought of wishing for that.
If any of the dragons have some sort of restriction like that, Shenron and Porunga would probably be the most likely candidates.
The things I remember about Toronbo don't give me any read on the dragon's capabilities, but the set that I really want to test it out on is Super Dragon Balls.
They can grant anything, so it's not entirely out of the realm of possibility...
"Eh-hem." Lila clears her throat.
Being pulled out of my thoughts, I look towards her and ask, "What's up?", to which she motions her head towards Bahamut.
"Oh, right..." I muttered.
Wasting no more time, I step up and give my last wish. "I wish for this planet to prosper and be able to grow life on the surface! No matter what is planted on the soil, it will grow without exception!"
Lila looks at me with confusion as I finished giving my last wish.
Bahamut's eyes once again shone bright blue and our surroundings immediately began to shift before our eyes.
The rocky terrain beneath our feet suddenly became lush soil, luscious green grass growing as the deepened parts of the flat land filled in with water. Looking up to the skies, we could see that the mountain tops suddenly had snow on them, and the purple lighting striking down suddenly ceased, only striking within the dark clouds above.
"Farewell, my Creator."
With those last words, Bahamut's large form suddenly reverted back into red energy and shrunk as he flew back down towards the Black Star Dragon Balls.
Once back inside, the balls suddenly shot off towards the sky, scattering into many different directions. Before they could get too far, I hold out my hand and call them back, making use of my first wish already.
The Black Star Dragon Balls suddenly stop midair before flying towards me at a shocking amount of speed. Flicking my hand downwards, the balls suddenly stop and drop to the ground in front of us.
"So I get the first wish, but why the second one? What's the use of a planet that can grow anything?" Lila asked, tilting her head in confusion.
Yeah, I don't blame her for being confused. That last wish just seemed to be very random on my end, but I know that it was anything but.
"Trust me, it was a worthwhile investment..." I said with a small smirk as I adjusted my earring.
She looks at me with a raised brow but eventually shrugs it off.
"So... what now?" She asks, wondering where we go from here.
"Now I summon him again." I tell her.
"Again?" She says with widened eyes.
"Mhm." I hummed, nodding my head. "There's two more things I have to tick off my checklist."
