The world was once peaceful , the 21st century life of humans was going well. Technological advancements were being made left and right in all areas.
That is until IT happened, earthquakes like never seen before struck the globe . The ground opened up creating massive caverns and ravens that looked to have no end. The humans thought to investigate this new phenomenon.
That's when creatures of varying sizes and monstrous porportions rushed out enmass. The world was in chaos as when they tried to fight back with all their advanced military technology, they realized these "creatures" had claws has sharp as iron and hides tougher than steel with some being immune to even missiles.
When they thought all hope was lost a brave warrior stood out amongst the rest using abilities that human thought were not possible and following this beacon of light they fought back, built massive strongholds for safety and killed monsters on the outside. The brave humans that gained abilities after killing monsters were called Vanguards , and the entire monsters that came from the depths of the earth were called INTRATERRESTRIAL.

Phillip Hudson was a normal fourteen years old boy with the dream of becoming a Vanguard; those who fought to preserve the human race every day.
He spent most of his time learning about all the accessible information on intraterrestrials and vanguards , learning about all their abilities, species , weakness, everything. Now finally it was time , he had been giving the opportunity to become one of them if he passed the exam.
He lived in a small apartment in daletown - a C- rank stronghold - with his aunt after his parents passed away three years ago in an attack on the stronghold .
' Phillip it's time for breakfast!' his aunt called out.
Phillip rushed down the stairs and gave his aunt a whole-hearted hug.
' good morning aunt Mary '
' good morning Phillip did you sleep well, you know you have to be ready for the exam today ' his aunt said while serving him some toast.
' Of course I did, I slept super early even'
'Awn that's sweet' Aunt Mary said with a giggle.
Phillip rushed his meal, devouring the food in 3 bites.
' goodbye aunt'
'take care of yourself Philip!'
'I will' he said as he ran off.
'Such a sweet boy'.
Daletown wasn't a luxurious city or anything but it wasn't that bad either. Most of the buildings were two or three storeys tall with the occasional four storeys.
Phillip had been living in Daletown for a couple of years now and was very familiar with the structure of the stronghold, so it didn't take long for him to reach the Admission center.
' How can I help you? ' . A plum red haired woman in her middle thirty's asked Phillip as he walked in.
' I'm here to take the Vanguard Admission Exam' . Phillip said in a very polite manner as his aunt always taught him.
The receptionist typed a few keys on her display before answering.
' It's on the second floor, hall to the left.' She said before resuming her work.
Phillip quickly made his way to the second floor and entered the hall.
The hall was massive about 50 meters in length and 20 in breadth.
There were about 500 people in the hall already so he quickly picked a spot at the back.
' Oh God I hope I pass '
' I heard this year's exam is going to be very difficult '
' Seriously! '
' I'm screwed '
There was a lot of mumuring and Phillip was wondering when it was going to start until he heard a loud voice.
' Everyone quiet please. '
The hall immediately fell silent.
' I want to thank you all for coming to participate in this year's VAE ( Vanguard Admission Exam ) , and I would like to welcome your Head supervisor for the exam. '
A man that was not to short and not to tall walked out dressed in a golden armour piece, with brown hair and black eyes , he had distinctly above average appearance and everyone immediately recognized who it was.
' There's no way a gold rank Vanguard! '
' Not just any gold rank it's John Caron !'
' No way isn't he like the 127th position in the west globe '
Phillip was stunned at the arrival of one of the top two hundred gold-ranked Vanguards in the west of the planet, out of the thousands.
' Okay everyone, this year's exam will be divided into two parts, the written and practical. '
He waited for the information to sink in before continuing.
' The written exam will be based on the information about intraterrestrials you've gathered so far, while the practical is the usual hunt monsters till you awaken '
Murmuring began as people started talking amongst themselves and forming groups for the awaken.
' Hi, I'm Isaac nice to meet you ' A short, chubby boy with brown hair and brown eyes said to Phillip.
' Hey, the names Phillip Hudson, so you also taking the exam? '
' of course, why wouldn't I. But I'm really nervous about the written exam '
' don't worry you'll do fine '
' you think so? '
' yeah '
' thanks ' Isaac said with a small smile.
' anytime '.
They chatted for a little bit before they were separated into different rooms.
The questions were distributed and some people were already shedding tears.
' why are the questions so hard !?'
' I've failed! '
Not long after Phillip received his questions
