As they travelled down the Calm River towards their first location, just south of the Military Camp, Dom chatted with his Martial Heroes. Hua Rong had left them at some point and headed towards the front where Meritamen, Artemisia and Crassus were stood. His role to keep his eyes out for the markers that had been placed previously by Legionaries when they had been exploring this area more thoroughly, primarily for the roads they had been making. Dom had made it clear to Subutai that he felt Legionary Macro should be a Centurion in charge of engineering projects.
"It's a beautiful place." Sun Ce had remarked, "Untouched by man and asking to be explored."
"This whole area is." Gan Ning agreed, "We still have lots of exploring to do, but from what we have done so far, it's a land of opportunity for us. Part of me wishes the rest of my men were here with me, able to grow a new home without the constant need to fight over resource with our enemies."
"I mean, we have had a lot of fights." Subutai commented with a raised eyebrow, "Almost from day one we have been in fights."
"Not all of them have been here though, and most have been because of Tongpai Town." Gan Ning countered. "But compared to the past, this place is a home I can get behind."
"I wish father, Sun Quan and Sun Shangxiang could see this." Sun Ce replied, now keeping his sentences much shorter.
"Who knows what can happen in the future." Subutai stated seriously.
"It would be good to see Sun Quan again." Gan Ning agreed honestly as reminisced.
Dom listened to them talk as he watched them travel further down the river, the views from the Galatea were exceptional and the unexplored south was becoming more and more appealing as he looked. There were long scores of open land that could be farmed and built upon. He also noticed huge varieties of different flora and fauna as they passed and wondered what wonders would be beyond.
"Are those goats?" Subutai asked Gan Ning as a herd of them passed by on the opposite shore.
"They definitely are!" Gan Ning agreed before laughing, "Look, Lucius has noticed."
Further down the Galatea Lucius had stood up and was pointing at the goats beyond whilst Xun Yu made some notes on the map in front of him.
"Lord Lazarus! There are goats!" Lucius bellowed from the front. Dom waved back with a grin as Lucius began pointing things out to Hatshepsut in excitement.
"Seems they are noting down key opportunities as we pass." Sun Ce added, before commenting to Dom. "There is quite a large amount of talent here."
"There is." Dom agreed, "I have been lucky so far, we have our goals and everyone contributes."
"My father would have said its not luck but destiny." Sun Ce commented before silently looking across the water once more. Either in deep thought or resting his wound.
...
They soon arrived at their first destination, where the Bireme ahead of them sped up and beached itself upon on a shallow beach that was on the River's bank. The Galatea pulled up behind the Bireme and anchored itself, as did the two Merchant Ships that followed.
Dom was impressed to see that there were already some Hoplite waiting for them that had stayed behind at the Military Camp that was to the north of their current position. He suspected they had been monitoring the ships from a distance with expectations on where they would come to. He was impressed he hadn't noticed them and that Subutai had trained the forces well for simple tasks such as following subtly.
The ramp that was used earlier to board the Galatea was now pushed from the side of the Galatea to the rear of the Bireme, so the crew could walk across it and use the Bireme to get to shore, rather than beaching both ships. Relaunching the Bireme wouldn't be overly difficult, some crew would push whilst others would row, however having to do that to both of the Warships would have been time consuming.
Dom crossed the ramp and the Bireme, greeting the crew that were taking a short rest, before travelling down another ramp and appearing on the shore.
He looked around at the views from this new location, the Calm River that flowed through it with a shallow beach. There was miles upon miles of stunning harvestable land, that was full of a variety of flower meadows and open plains. There was no forest in sight, as it was much further to the north near the Military Camp that was also not in sight. Across the Calm River was more peaceful open land and Dom wondered if they should build a similar movable bridge here that would allow growth to the southern shore. He also listened to the sounds of small animals and birds that travelled on a slight peaceful breeze, as well as the gentle noise of the River as it pushed the water down towards the Shimmering Sea.
"Are we placing it closer to the Military Camp or closer to the River?" Subutai asked as the Heroes gathered.
"I would say closer to the river." Lucius replied, "We can build up towards the current Military Camp."
The Hoplite from the Bireme spread out, whilst Hau Rong took position to the east towards the Sea with Tomoe. The rest of the Heroes walked around and chatted whilst Dom retrieved his Town Centre Cube, ready for Spawning.
"System, please spawn the Town Centre!" Dom asked, grabbing the D Grade Town Centre Cube.
[Please choose location to spawn]
Dom decided to spawn the Town Centre slightly closer to the River's edge than he had with Riverside when he had spawned it, feeling that they could use that as a central place and then build in all three of the other directions with the farmlands and associated housing as planned. They would leave some space for some key manufacturing related places, as well as some space for entertainment and medical care in the future. The positive was that the location of this town was less than half a days ride from either of the other two locations once the road was finished.
"Please spawn here." Dom asked, having arrived at the spot he had decided upon which wasn't far from the River.
The ground shook vigorously as buildings began to appear around him, as a two story wooden Town Centre appeared, similar to how Riverside's had appeared originally. It looked like a lodge and had wooden carvings on the entrance way of Sabre Tooth Tigers. Dom wondered if they would need to manually upgrade everything if they ever decided to change their flags. A group of ten Houses also appeared behind the new Town Centre, similar to the basic ones in Riverside, as well as another raised Granary.
Around Dom, the different Heroes and Warriors looked on in awe, as none of them had seen the initial spawning of a Town before. Tomoe directed some of the Hoplite to inspect the different buildings, where as the other Heroes all gathered in front of the Town Centre.
[Congratulations on spawning your second Town, please choose a name for it]
"Tranquillity." Dom replied, the first word that came to his mind when he listened to the sounds. The location of this new Town felt peaceful and relaxing. It would become the food heart of their new Kingdom and it should be the most peaceful place to live.
[Congratulations on the creation of Tranquillity, there are no other towns within your area with this name, so this has been accepted]
[Congratulations on having two named Towns, please select your Capital:
Riverside
Tranquillity]
"Riverside!" Dom stated quickly, wanting to make sure he didn't cause any confusion and make any mistakes.
[Congratulations on having a Capital, Town Centre of the Capital Riverside has upgraded to Government Centre.]
[Congratulations on your Town Centre upgrading to a Government Centre. You will no longer have a bedroom at the Government Centre. Please select one of the following as a new place of residence:
Palace
Manor
Domus]
Dom was shocked by all of these upgrades and unexpected bonuses, part of him wondered what the Town Centre in Riverside now looked like, but he was more surprised by the options in front of him. Not only had he suddenly lost his home in Riverside, but now he had gained a new home type.
"Palace?" Dom asked, unsure of his choice. A Palace would be more in line of what Meritamen and Shang Yang would want, where as personally he would have preferred a Manor style building. A Domus was a Roman style building and he didn't feel it would fit in with the Architecture of Riverside. He also felt that a Manor or a Palace could be upgraded upwards, where as a Domus would be more outwards.
[Congratulations, A Palace has been spawned in Riverside]
Before Dom had chance to think about what had happened, another notification appeared.
[Congratulations on founding your second Town, please choose a special building from the following already placed in your original town:
Dock
Mine
Lumber Camp]
Dom didn't even think about what to choose and instantly chose the Dock. The other buildings didn't have any relevance to the new Town and a Dock was a needed item. Soon, beside the small beach a dock similar to the level one version at Riverside suddenly spawned. It caused a slight wave and the ships that were still in the River rocked gently. Those that were still on the Bireme breathed in frustration as they now had to push the ship back in to the River, where as if the Dock had already been there they wouldn't have had to do anything.
"Please show stats!" Dom asked, looking at the Town Centre.
[Town Centre of Tranquillity
Village Grade - D
Village Level - 1
Village Perks, Upgraded due to Level S Capital:
(Villager Spawn D Grade - 3 rolls per day, high chance of high grades or skills appearing,)(Family bonds D Grade - Chance of family members joining spawned villagers))(Give Me More D Grade - All spawn related buildings will have a random increase in daily spawns or reduction in spawn time)(Prestige D Grade - Increases the attractability of Tranquillity to non members)(Expansionist D Grade- Increases the percentage of daily spawns related to expansion trades)]
"System, how do I upgrade the Town Centre of Tranquillity?
[Unlike with your Capital, other Town Centre's will be upgraded based on their own growth. This will be through a combined population and building increase. Towns that are not the Capital can not be upgraded to a level higher than the Capital. Towns that are not the Capital can not out number the population of the Capital and will therefore cease daily spawns if the number of Citizens is higher than the Capitals.]
"Will anything else happen if the Towns numbers are higher than the Capitals?" Dom asked, not that he expected this situation to happen.
[Negative, the Town Centre will just cease daily spawns until the Capital has surpassed it or you have changed the Capital.]
"Is it easy to change the Capital to another one?" Dom asked, wondering if that was something he may need to do in the future.
[A Capital is the centre of a Kingdom, multiple situations must be met to spawn this as an option]
Whilst Dom was talking with the System, Hatshepsut was walking around and placing the new buildings with Lucius's support. In the distance a Potters was built slightly to the north of the new Town Centre. Where as to the West towards Riverside the Wine Makers, which looked similar to the Brewery was built. Further to the west was the Vineyard and as Dom turned his head to look, he could see huge numbers of Grapevines that had suddenly spawned in. He could almost imagine Lucius's face as the Grapevines spawned and he looked forward to spending time here himself when he had chance in the future.
"What did you name this new Town?" Meritamen asked as she appeared by Dom's side.
"Tranquillity." Dom replied as he looked around at the peaceful town. In the distance one of the two Merchant Ships had now docked at the new docks, which Dom suspected had similar stats to the one in Riverside. Soon the Merchant Ship would unload and the first residents of the new Town would get to work at building some more houses and working with Hatshepsut and Lucius to create a farming plan.
"The name makes sense." Meritamen agreed as she looked around herself with a gentle smile. "Have you decided who is going to look after this place?"
"System, please make Elder Qiao the Mayor of Tranquillity." Dom stated, which left Meritamen with a knowing smile, having thought the same thing herself.
[Qiao Guolao has been made Mayor of Tranquillity and now has daily spawn power]
Dom called for Elder Qiao to come join them, and he explained how his new role was similar to that of Lucius in Riverside, but on a much smaller level as the only daily spawns from the Town Centre were needed.
"I have only been here for a day, I do not dare to take on such a role!" Elder Qiao replied, rejecting the offer straight away. Dom looked behind him and saw that Xun Yu had rolled his eyes in a knowing fashion, beside him Subutai and Shang Yang were giving Dom a look that explained they needed to move on.
"For the sake of your daughter, I hope you can do this." Meritamen added politely, with a gentle bow to the old Governor.
"The Qiao family have brought in a lot of talent, Tranquillity is the key to the hearts of our new Kingdom. I can think of no better person to manage it." Dom countered Elder Qiao. "I want this place to be a relaxing and enjoyable place to live."
"What about the Xun Family, or one of your more experienced members?" Elder Qiao argued back. Dom looked to Xun Yu behind, who just smiled in response. The Xun Family could manage the Town, but they were too important to Dom for this task.
"They all have other roles and tasks, where as this fits you the best. You are a talented Governor and this should be a simple task for you. It is less than a day away from Riverside and you can travel between the two as much as you wish." Dom explained politely.
"Then, I shall do this for my daughters for now." Elder Qiao accepted reluctantly, "However when a better candidate appears, I hope that they can take over this responsibility."
Dom agreed, however if Elder Qiao's luck was anything like Lucius's, he would be in this role for a very long time.
