After breakfast and throughout the day, Henry found himself dwelling on his actions the previous evening. He didn't think he was going to shoulder so much regret but, even when he was told to be selfish, and was offered the thing he was most selfish for, he still had hang-ups.
He wondered if the princess remembered the previous evening and the way he had almost lost control of himself. He was mortified at the thought of her thinking differently of him.
Realizing that she trusted him so much because he was supposed to be an honorable knight caused the guilt to eat away at him. How was he to toe the line between being selfish and not going too far?
It was too embarrassing to go to anyone for advice. The knights who he was close enough to talk to were in Chemois. His only option was the commander but he would rather send himself to an early grave than ask the commander for advice. He couldn't bear the thought of the commander being disappointed in his actions as well.
