Y/N's POV
Holding the file that Kayden had asked for, I made my way to his office and knocked twice.
Kayden: "Come in!" 😐
I reached for the door handle and twisted it, but it wouldn't budge. Frowning, I tried pushing harder, but the door remained shut. 😯
Kayden: "Y/N, I said come in!" 🙄
"Sir, the door isn't opening!" 😥 I called out, my frustration growing.
Kayden: "What?! How is that possible?" 😲
I heard his footsteps approaching before he tried opening the door from his side. A moment later, the door finally gave way, and he stood there, watching me with a slightly puzzled look. He stepped aside, motioning for me to enter.
As I walked in, I tried not to think about how strange that was. However, before Kayden could finish his sentence—
Kayden: "I'll call someone to repair the do—" 🤔
"Ahh—!" 😰
My foot twisted, and before I knew it, I was falling.
Kayden reacted instantly, his right arm wrapping around my waist while his other hand caught my chin, steadying me. His grip was firm yet gentle. 😳
Kayden: "Are you okay, Y/N?" 😯
I nodded, gripping his shoulder for balance as he helped me stand upright.
"Emma gave me these heels to wear, and I don't really know how to walk in them… That's why I keep falling." 😅 I admitted, feeling embarrassed.
He just nodded, letting go of me as he walked toward his chair. Picking up his office phone, he made a quick call.
Kayden: "Yeah… send someone to repair my office door." 😒 He ended the call, then grabbed his blazer.
Kayden: "Let's go. We're heading to the mall." 🙂
I blinked in confusion.
"But sir, aren't we supposed to attend the meeting first?" 😧
Kayden: "We are. But first, you need to eat something." 🙂
I sighed, but nodded and followed him out of the office like a good secretary.
We stepped into the elevator, and he pressed the button for the ground floor. Just as the doors were about to close, a hand suddenly shot between them, forcing them back open.
And then he stepped in.
Mr. Annoying.
Mr annoying smirked as he positioned himself on my right side, while Kayden was on my left.
"Why is he here?!" I groaned internally.
Mr annoying: "Hey, Kayden! What's up?" 😉
Kayden: "Why are you still here, Coel? I thought you left already!" 😅
Mr annoying: "Nah, I just had to give some work to Mark first." 😏
Kayden rolled his eyes, clearly uninterested in the conversation.
Kayden: "Oh, I se—"
Before he could finish, the elevator suddenly shook violently.
"Ahh! What's happening?! Oh my God!" 😰
The elevator shuddered before coming to a sudden stop.
Kayden: "Oh no. Y/N, don't panic! I'll call someone—" 😥
Before he could grab his phone, the lights started flickering.
My heart pounded in my chest as I took a shaky breath. The enclosed space, the dimming lights, the sudden halt—it was too much. 😱
Kayden stepped closer.
Kayden: "Come here, Y/N." 😳
Before I could react, he pulled me into his arms.
But I wasn't the only one scared.
I glanced at Mr annoying, and to my surprise, he actually looked panicked too.
Mr annoying: "Y-You, Kayden, do something, you idiot!" 😰
Kayden: "I'm calling Mr. Ben now—just stay calm!" 😓
The elevator shook again.
I let out a strangled sob, tears welling up in my eyes. The lack of air, the fear, the anxiety—it was too overwhelming.
Mr annoying suddenly grabbed my arm and pulled me into a tight hug.
Kayden: "Y—" 🤨
Mr annoying: "JUST CALL SOMEONE RIGHT NOW!" 😡
I couldn't stop crying.
Mr annoying: "It's okay, Y/N. You're safe." 🤫
The elevator jerked again, and this time, I clung to Mr annoying even tighter.
Mr annoying: "Shhh… Everything will be okay, Y/N—" 😌
I tried to breathe, but it was getting harder. I was crying too much, my chest tightening. My vision blurred, my head spun—I felt dizzy.
Kayden: "MR. BEN, DO SOMETHING AND CALL A DOCTOR!" 😡
Mr annoying: "Y/N… look at me, babe!" 😰
Before I could, Kayden yanked me away from him.
Kayden: "Y/N! Open your eyes! Keep breathing, Y/N!" 😨
I could barely hear him as my body weakened. Just as my knees gave out, the elevator doors finally opened.
Everything felt hazy as Kayden suddenly lifted me bridal style, carrying me out and placing me gently on a couch outside.
Ben: "Boss! Is she okay?" 😰
Kayden: "Did you call the doctor, Ben?" 😠 His grip on me was still firm.
"I-I'm o-okay now…" 😑 I whispered weakly.
As my vision cleared, I realized something horrifying.
Everyone in the office was staring at me.
The embarrassment hit me like a truck.
Kayden: "Everyone, back to work. NOW!" 😡
I flinched slightly at his commanding tone, but within seconds, everyone scattered, leaving only Kayden, Ben, and… where was Mr annoying?
Before I could ask, Mr. Ben spoke up.
Ben: "Boss, the doctor is here!" 🙂
A familiar voice made me freeze.
???: "Y/N—OH MY GOD, ARE YOU OKAY??" 😱
I turned my head just as a man ran toward me, immediately checking my pulse and forehead.
I blinked in confusion.
"Who… is he?" 🤔
I turned to Kayden, and judging by his expression, he was just as confused as I was.
Kayden: "Doctor, we got stuck in the elevator, and she had trouble breathing." 😐
The doctor sighed and nodded before pulling out his blood pressure machine. Then, it clicked.
It was Kai.
Kai: "I see. But I need to check your blood pressure. By the way, Y/N, do you remember me?" 😊
I nodded.
"Yeah…" 😌
He took my hand and wrapped the BP cuff around my arm. After a few seconds, he frowned.
Kai: "Your blood pressure is low. Y/N, did you eat anything this morning?"
I froze.
I… hadn't eaten anything all day.
I shook my head. 😐
Kai sighed.
Kai: "Eat something, and you'll feel better. And take some rest, okay?" 🙂
Kayden, who had been silent, suddenly spoke up.
Kayden: "Don't worry, doctor. I'll take care of her." 😏
Kai didn't seem pleased with that, but he simply sighed.
Kai: "Alright. Call me if anything happens." 🙄
As he left, Kayden turned to me.
Kayden: "Can you walk, or should I carry you again?" 😊
My face turned red as I looked away.
"N-No, I can walk, sir." 😳
Kayden chuckled.
Kayden: "Good. Then let's go." 🙂
