Chapter 44 - Chapter 44

"A royalty? Really? Rojan's princess." It was the first time Gabriel looked so shocked, he couldn't hide his wonderment.

Ina was watching him with a bit of self satisfaction because for the first time ever since they met, she felt she had the upper hand. She always hoped for Gabriel or Jiha to rescue her but now she was able to do it. She had a powerful backing. Although she wasn't sure how she felt about them yet.

Gabriel who even stood up and made a few steps across the room finally calmed down and sat back on the bed.

"Now my chances have dropped to zero." He suddenly announced.

"What do you mean?" Ina furrowed her eyebrows as soon as he said that random sentence.

"What do I mean? Well, it was hard to get you out of the Jiha's clutches but it wasn't impossible. Now that you have been claimed by the Rojan's royalty I dare say I have no chances to own you."

"Own me?" Ina felt a sudden surge of anger.

"That might be a poor expression but in the end every alpha has a deep craving to possess his own omega. I'm no different. " He raised his head and looked Ina straight in the eyes. There were some wild sparks in his eyes. Gabriel was able to look like a devilish angel. That expression suited him well.

"I should have marked you and never showed you to that Prescott asshole." He sneered.

"I guess it is too late to change that. Do you happen to have any plans, I mean about the future?"

Plans, right. She should have some plans.

"I think I will be going back with Rojans back to their country." She answered after a moment of hesitation.

"I see, is there a place for me in your plans?"

Ina noticed Gabriel's clenched fists. It must have been hard for him to be left on someone's mercy, after living his life like a proud alpha.

"I thought you might go with me. I know nobody there and after all that happened your life here is finished." Ina stood up and sat next to Gabriel.

"You and me, just as we planned." Ina smiled.

Gabriel was silent for a moment before he grabbed Inas hand and kissed it.

"Yeah, as we've planned."

For the next whole week Gabriel was recovering and Ina was reading books about Roja and had regular lessons about royal etiquette. She seemed to have quite a lot to learn but her teachers proved to be patient and Ina was giving her all. Her uncle and the distant cousin were frequently leaving the house as they were helping with the repairs along with workers they had brought with them. Time was flowing smoothly and nobody was bothering them. Gabriel felt way better and he even started exercising.

Ina was watching him and his sculpted body. To be frank it was a sight to behold. The beds of sweat made his body almost sine and his muscles became even more defined.

"Can't take your eyes off me?" Gabriel smiled provocatively.

Ina blushed.

"No need to hide your true desires." Gabriel came closer and leaned to whisper right into Ina's ear. "You can touch me whenever you want, I don't mind."

"Lady Ina." The sudden appearance of a servant broke the moment. Gabriel stepped back and Ina was trying her best to compose.

"Yes?"

"There is a tailor arranged for you to take some measurements as well as for your companion. When would it be convenient to take your measurements?"

"Anytime, we are free." Ina responded.

"I'll see to that, I will call him right away." The servant bowed and left. As soon as she parted another one came bringing refreshments and placing them all on the table took a position at the door.

Gabriel smiled, he sat down next to Ina and drank some of the water mixed with juice and fresh herbs.

"Ina, how much do you know about Rojan's royalty?" He suddenly asked.

She looked at him and after a moment responded.

"Not much, only a bit of history of Roja and some customs as well as table manners and ways to address the elders."

Gabriel pisces some fruits and eating them slowly looked back at the servant standing motionless at the door.

"I have never been to Roja, yet we traded with them. I know a few of them. They are very strict. They have their rules and ways of handling the matters. It's hard to convince them and negotiating is never easy. I can only imagine the royals must be even more strict." His gaze became distant.

"What do you mean?" Ina asked with hesitation.

Gabriel placed a juice piece of peach on her lips and leaned closer so that no one could overhear them.

"I mean do you really know why your mother left her home? You honestly think it was out of sheer curiosity? Is that the reason why she has never returned back home? Her life as a princess must have been carefree, yet she has chosen to live among desert wolves." Out of the corner of his eye he was watching the servant who slowly came closer.

"My lady, should you wish for anything else do not hesitate to call me." He bowed and waited for Ina's orders.

"No we are fine, you may leave." Gabriel answered before Ina managed. The servant looked at him and then back at Ina.

"Yes, you may go. Thank you." Ina confirmed, smiling awkwardly. She still wasn't used to giving orders.

The servant bowed and left them alone. Gabriel was watching him leave.

"I feel so strange, I was never called a lady before. I'm not used to all this service provided for me here." Ina leaned closer to Gabriel, somehow his pheromones and his presence give her the feeling of … security.

"Service? I'd rather say supervision." Gabriel said quietly, more to himself rather than for Ina to hear.
