Chapter 12 - Monster's Approach

---------------------12-----------------------

Looking through the fog that covered the dungeon floor, Yuna spotted a familiar form.

With eight limbs and a black shell covering its body, the creature slowly crawled closer to her. Though it wasn't large, it was still nearly double her size.

It seemed much weaker compared to herself, but she knew better than to underestimate it. Vigilance was key.

Just at that moment, she remembered the special abilities she had just gained. "Shadow dash," she whispered. In an instant, a dark fog enveloped her body, and in the blink of an eye, she appeared right behind the creature, silent as death. Now, she had the choice between escape or fight.

She chose to fight. Turning around, she leapt onto the spider's back. Using her sharp teeth, she dug into the spider's shell, cracking the exterior as the spider screeched in pain.

The spider, in agony, hurled her off, sending her crashing into the wall.

Yuna yelped in pain, her body slamming hard into the stone floor. The impact stung—this was the first time she truly felt the weight of pain since arriving in this world. She fought to keep her focus as the spider recovered and began to move again.

Confident that she could take it down with one or two more bites, the taste of bitter spider blood lingered in her mouth, stirring a fierce hunger deep within her—like a wild animal in the throes of its primal instincts. Without hesitation, she pounced again, this time aiming for the spider's head. The spider reacted quickly, swinging its front limb to slash her.

Using her agility, Yuna dodged the attack, landing just in front of the spider. Its eight red eyes glared down at her, before lifting both its front limbs and slamming them down with crushing force. Yuna dodged again, but just barely, leaving a scratch along her side.

Suddenly, she heard the swift whoosh of an arrow piercing the air, followed by the sharp crack as it struck the spider's head. It hit the stone wall on the other side with a dull thud.

Surprised, Yuna looked over at the sound of footsteps approaching her. Frightened and disoriented, she recognized the figures rushing toward her.

"Lisa and Rite!" She thought, her heart lifting despite her exhaustion. However, her body had no strength left to move, and she collapsed beside the spider's corpse.

Still in a haze of unconsciousness, she could hear them talking, but the words were muffled, too distant for her to understand. Blood continued to drip from her wounds, staining the stone floor beneath her.

Slowly, Yuna's eyelids fluttered open. She found herself being carried, cradled in Lisa's arms like a small child. The embarrassment was overwhelming, but her body refused to cooperate.

Lisa looked down at her with a soft smile, still running toward safety. She placed her hand gently on Yuna's head, petting her as if she were a child. "It'll be okay," Lisa whispered, her voice comforting.

The pain coursing through Yuna's body was relentless, and she could feel the warmth of blood continuing to flow down from her wounds, dripping onto Lisa's hand. But Lisa didn't slow down. She kept running, carrying Yuna as if nothing could stop her.

The scent of fresh blood lingered in the air, dripping onto the ground, leaving a trail behind them. Unknowingly, they were drawing the attention of more unwelcome visitors. The dungeon had more to offer than just the dangers they had already encountered. And Yuna could feel it, a sense of impending danger lurking just beyond the horizon.
