Aurdis barely registered the words of the Elven Mages around her. The battlefield beyond the window was a raging storm of steel, Magic, and blood, but all of it faded into the background as her father's anguished cry echoed through her soul.
It wasn't a sound that reached her ears. It struck something deeper, a sensation that tightened around her chest like a claw.
She stumbled forward and ran toward the broken window, hands gripping the shattered edge of the window where Eccar had broken through earlier.
The wind lashed against her face as she craned her neck upward, eyes scanning the sky. Where were they?
Then she saw it.
A dark explosion in the distance that still crackling with unnatural energy. And someone was falling from the center of it.
