If it weren't for the fact that Gao Guang had something urgent, Otto wouldn't be able to show up.
If it weren't for the fact that Gao Guang indeed had something major to attend to, Jane wouldn't be willing to meet Otto at all. So Gao Guang couldn't help feeling emotional that he had really become the bridge between Otto and many of his 'masters'.
It was quite shameless to be able to coax Jane into meeting Otto face to face, let alone persuading Jane to show Otto any good graces.
Jane kept a cold face, acting in a purely official manner. She wasn't deliberately indifferent to Otto, nor was there any intimacy that spouses or lovers share. All she exhibited was a detached professionalism to solve Gao Guang's troubles.
As for Otto, he was the picture of calm.
