After they sat down the waitress came to take their order. Betty didn't want to order for anything but Jack insisted and ordered something for her and the waitress left. Betty didn't want to spend a lot of time there so she decided to thank him and leave.
"Sir, I want to thank you for paying the hospital bills for my brother, I promise when I get a job I'll pay back bit by bit"
"Who says I'm taking it back" Jack asked back raising an eyebrow.
"Oh right, Angie might have told you on my behalf, I really appreciate your kindness sir"
"No Betty, I heard you talking about it that day, the Rockson's didn't want to help so I did. Besides I wanted to" Betty was speachless. Just when she was about to say something their order reached.
"Let's eat first, afterwards we can talk" Jack said. When the food was served, unconsciously, Jack found himself serving Betty. Betty was a girl who loves food a lot so she also ate like there was no tomorrow. After few minutes, she realized she was on a date and looked at the man infront of her only to find him staring back at her without even touching his food . She felt shy.
"I'm sorry...I forgot my home training"
"Don't worry, I like how you are. You're yourself, you don't fake your attitude and besides you weren't eating in a rush". Betty didn't even know if to take it as a compliment. Jack was serious about what he said. Betty didn't pretend like other girls but she still got his attention. For the first time, Jack was calm to a girl again and he felt bothered about it but didn't want to stop. Jack realized that Betty wasn't eating comfortably like before so he started eating his food to make her comfortable. Betty wanted to leave but didn't know how to bring it up so she kept quiet, waiting for Jack to talk. After they finished their food and were taking their refreshments, Jack came clear with Betty.
"Betty, marry me" Betty choked on her juice and started coughing. Jack stood up and patted her back. After she was okay she pushed Jack's hand and asked again to be sure. Maybe her ears didn't hear him correctly.
"I said marry me, Betty". Betty was speachless and stood up. "What! Are you not Angie's fiance..."
"She's not my fiancee, I don't have any relationship with her. It was just a set up by our grannies."
"But, I still don't want to snatch you from her,"
" You said it yourself Betty, that you're sorry for Mr. Smith for choosing Angelina. I'm not interested in her"
"So you're interested in me?" Betty asked with a surprised face. Jack kept quiet for a while and said "To tell you the truth I don't have any feelings for you,I just feel a connection with you. And don't tell me you don't feel it too"
"Please, don't choose me , my sister loves you, I don't want....."
"You don't need to be afraid of her"
"You don't even know me !!! , "
"I can get to know you" Betty was speachless. She didn't know what to do. She stood up to leave and jackson held her hand. "I'll marry you Betty. Not a contracted marriage for that matter." Betty turned with a shocked expression. Why is this man so possessive! Is he doing that because he paid Henry's hospital bills ?
