He was very close to her.
Close enough to see her distinct eyelashes.
Long and curled, they matched her round eyes well.
"Are you sleeping?"
She asked again, looking into his eyes.
His eyes were truly beautiful.
The young man shook his head, his lips a shade paler, "No."
"Oh." She nodded, placing both hands on her knees, stacking her fingers one on top of the other.
She gazed at him intently, as if she could do so all day.
Finally, the boy couldn't suppress his curiosity and asked her, "Why are you always looking at me?"
"I'm not looking at you." Hannah shook her head, her eyes curving into a smile, "I'm looking at your eyes."
The boy found this statement a bit odd.
But it also seemed right.
He didn't continue to think about it, "Can you let me go now?"
Hannah thought about it seriously.
Then she shook her head, "No."
Those three words again.
Her voice was soft and sweet, almost like she was cooing.
This time, the boy didn't ask why.
