They sat in the corner of a tavern, away from prying eyes and ears.
Jushion didn't look like the man I knew, but it was him. There was no mistaking his energy, which I'd memorized. He could be in another body, and I would instantly recognize him. Was the same true for him? Did he know me on sight? It didn't seem that way when we met on the highway.
There was one thing that stayed the same for him, though. His eyes. They were the same dark brown, malicious, and unwavering. However, they lacked the same madness I'd seen before. This was the version of him before he lost himself down the dark path, but he'd already started down it. I saw the beginnings of fractures that others might not see.
"You know where the great wolf Fenris is?" Quinten, who looked almost identical to the man I'd met, looked unconvinced. "I doubt that. No one knows where he is. How do you?"
