Diana looked up as the shaking of the building stopped. "I wonder what that was?"
"Probably just the air conditioner" muttered the robot.
"Air conditioner my-" Diana paused as a shadowed figure darted across the hall. "Shhh," murmured Diana. She slowly tiptoed down the hall and opened the door where the figure went in. Darkness was the only thing that pierced the eye, until a knife came flying toward her retina. Diana felt the cold iron pierce through her warm eye and into her brain. She let out a shriek, then fell to the ground. "Oh no, not on my watch" the robot said. He stuck out his hands and yelled, "Time: Reverse!"
The area turned to a grey static as Diana's lifeless corpse suddenly jerked to life. Her body rose upwards back on her feet. The knife slowly pulled out of her eye and back into the hand of the shadowed figure. "Hmm, looks like I still am not able to figure out who this is." the robot muttered. The figure retreated back into the doorway and back across the hall. The grey static that showed when time reversed disappeared.
Diana looked up as the shaking of the building stopped. "I wonder what that was?"
"You better be careful" muttered the robot.
"What-" Diana paused as a shadowed figure darted across the hall. "Quiet," murmured Diana. She started tiptoeing to the door but the robot stopped her by yanking her shirt. "Hey, what are you doing?" whispered Diana. "That's not a smart idea, you'll die."
Diana shuddered at the thought. Her legs buckled from the fear and muscle weakness. She started spacing out until the robot broke her out of it. "Hey! Wake up! It's coming!" She snapped out of it and said adrenaline up her nose. Her legs shot back to life and she jumped up to her feet. The figure kept coming toward her as she lifted up her hand. The figure threw something at her that was shrouded in darkness. She barely dodged it as it hit the wall with a thud. The darkness retreated back and revealed a knife. "That's it!" yelled the robot. "They control darkness."
The figure hissed and crept backwards. "Oh no, you don't!" yelled Diana as she stuck her hand out. She shot out the sleep spores and the figure slowed down, then flopped to the floor. The darkness that once shrouded the body dissipated, revealing a small woman. Diana grabbed the knife and slit the woman's throat. "Woah what the heck?! Why did you just slit her throat?" exclaimed the robot. "Well I thought that I should get rid of her right away" Diana said quietly. "We could have gotten information from her! Now she's dead!" "Hold on, you can just rewind time. Just do that." "You know how much of a toll it takes on me?! Do you know why my last user was an old man? It's because whenever I use my power, my vessel ages! Now we don't have information that we could have needed. Good job."
Diana crawled her paraplegic body over to a corner and started crying. The robot looked down and walked over to her. "Hey, it's alright. Everyone makes mistakes, it's just that your mistake cost us probably our lives." Diana started sobbing even harder. "Well, that probably wasn't the way to put it, just don't feel bad, and buck up." Diana looked up, her face super ugly from crying. And I mean really ugly, her face looked like someone got hit with a stick against the face a hundred times. I don't think you know how ugly I'm trying to make her seem. It's like two goblins had incest for six generations and she was the end result. Anyways back to the story. She looked up and asked, "Are you sure?" "Uh yeah, sure." "Alright, let's do this." She got up and dust herself off. The duo was back in action and almost better than usual.
