Chapter 1 - 1 Becoming A Mage

Today, Jack is more excited than ever.

Why?

It's because every child at the age of five would be tested if they had any ability to become a Mage.

Mages are one of the powerful beings in existence. And Jack is the son of one of them it is understandable to test Jack's talent If the adage that says a tiger father does not beget a dog is true. Jack's parents took him to the city center of Bluevalley kingdom.

Their hometown was quite small and it did not have the necessary equipment to test his magical capabilities, so his parents decided to take him to the closest city to undergo the test.

It turns out that if one of your parents was a Mage, then you had a high chance of becoming a Mage too!. Although the chance won't be hundred percent. It's still better than nothing, infact, a good number of Mage come from bloodlines of previous Mages.

Jack and his parents finally arrived at the center of the city and immediately notice the difference. There seed to be a higher number of Adventures and Mages here. A lot of people were walking around with magical tools, at the same time He felt bad when he notice the gap between the rich and the poor.

He didn't understand why it was so for the rich received clout and attraction, but the poor received nothing but disdain. He was saddened and frustrated by the fact that humans didn't seem to help those that were weaker than them.

Instead, they disrespected and mocked them as if they are lower beings than them even though they are the same.

After walking through the city while holding his mother's hand, they had finally reached their destination. Jack was tired from all the walking, his small body couldn't take it anymore and gave up a little yawn.

Jack's father had something to do and left two as he made his way back home first before the others.

He look at the castle-like building in front of him and discovered that it was bigger than their village.

Nevertheless, it was a beautiful sight.

Anna, Jack's mother was quick to explain that the building was the Royal Hill Academy and that it had a strict policy wherein it only accepts Mage. This was the school she attended when she was younger, and she hoped Jack could also become its student. They walked away from the school building and arrived at a nearby building. This one seems less amazing when compared to the previous first building.

The number of people inside the building was astonishing.

There was hardly any space to move. All most all the people who were inside were parents with their children. They sat down and waited patiently in the reception area. Now and then a woman will come out to the reception area holding a list. She will call out the names, the child and his parents will follow her to the test room. After almost ten minutes they will come out, most of them were crying.

After a few minutes, the woman came out with the list again.

Jack Green, you are next. She announced as she swept her gaze across the crowd.

Jack jumped out of his seat and smiled.

He fellow his mother into the room that he had caught a glimpse of earlier and find out that there was a table and two chairs on either side of the table.

On top of the table there was a big crystal ball and sitting behind it was an old man dressed in red rob.

The other seat was empty Anna sat on the empty seat and carried Jack over to his lap.

"Please have your son place his hand on the crystal ball and it will glow the color of your son's magical ability".

Jack was soo nervous that he couldn't see himself doing that so he close his eyes, raise both hands in the air and grab the crystal ball.

Then he heard someone stifled sobbing.

" Am sorry but your son doesn't have any magical abilities"

Jack open his eyes as soon as he heard that the old man saying that.

He looked at his mother who was all teared up at that moment he was also teared up. His mother had high hopes of him becoming a mage just like her but it seems that hope was not meant to come to pass.

Jack stayed silent the whole trip back to their village. He was very much disappointed in himself. He had dreams of becoming a mage like his mother, and now that he did not have any magical ability that dream is a fantasy.

Since I can't become a mage I must become an adventure
