Chapter 5 - Xavier Chen

Friday night wrapped up with Xavier Chen emerging from the lavish bathroom, fresh from a rejuvenating hot bath. He stepped into the opulent hotel room, its grandeur reflecting wealth and power.

As he dried his hair with a smaller towel, Xavier's gaze met his reflection in the mirror. His chiseled features and striking appearance left no doubt he was a handsome young man.

The room's extravagant decor and lavish furnishings served as a testament to Xavier's success. Every detail, from the plush carpet to the floor-to-ceiling windows, exuded luxury.

The air conditioner hummed softly, maintaining the room's refreshing chill, just the way Xavier liked it. He slipped into his boxers and singlet, the fabric clinging to his chiseled physique.

As he dressed, Xavier savored a glass of chilled schnapps, the liquor's smooth burn preparing him for the night ahead.

Raymond's words echoed in his mind: "You must look breathtaking, Xavier. Tonight's party is a high-stakes networking opportunity."

What would he do without Raymond, his efficient PA, who had stressed the importance of making a stunning impression at the exclusive party. Xavier aimed to dazzle, selecting his most captivating attire.

Five years ago, Xavier's world shattered when he discovered his girlfriend, Annastecia McCall, was cheating on him. The betrayal cut deep, and he lost faith in love.

Annastecia, a stunning model from a middle-class family, had seemingly possessed every quality Xavier desired. Her captivating beauty and charisma had captivated him.

Despite lavishing her with gifts and affection, Xavier realized she was using him to elevate her family's status and her own lifestyle.

The painful realization led Xavier to reevaluate his relationships. He vowed to shield himself from heartbreak, embracing a life of solitude and casual encounters.

Reminding himself that love was a luxury he couldn't afford

Xavier's memories of Annastecia still stung. Their whirlwind romance had concealed her manipulative nature.

At UCLA, Xavier was captivated by Annastecia's enigmatic beauty. Her initial reserve only fueled his pursuit.

As their relationship blossomed, Xavier ignored Raymond's caution. Anna's bold sensuality and captivating presence enthralled him.

But the discovery of her infidelity shattered Xavier's world. His heart, once open and trusting, closed forever.

Now, Xavier sought control in fleeting encounters, shielding himself from love's vulnerability.

The night of their first anniversary marked the end of Xavier's tumultuous relationship with Annastecia. It was then that his cousin, Maximus, revealed a shocking truth.

She was the daughter of a notorious gangster, and her intentions were far from genuine. She had been positioned to infiltrate and dismantle Xavier's family business.

Grateful for the timely revelation, Xavier severed ties with Anna, dodging a potentially disastrous fate.

Annastecia, his first love and only girlfriend, was now nothing more than a painful memory – an 'ex' forever etched in his past. Right now, what mattered was the program he was attending.

* Earlier *

Xavier Chen stepped out of the sleek, black elevator and onto the polished marble floor of the Chen Corporation's headquarters. As a young CEO, he had grown accustomed to the admiring glances and respectful nods from his employees. At 25, Xavier had taken the reins of his father's company, determined to prove himself as a worthy successor.

As he made his way to his office, Xavier's assistant, Rachel, greeted him with a warm smile. "Good morning, Mr. Chen. "You have a busy day ahead of you." She handed him a cup of steaming hot coffee and a thick folder filled with documents.

Xavier nodded, taking a sip of his coffee as he scanned the day's schedule. "What's the agenda for the meeting with the marketing team?" he asked Rachel.

"They'll be presenting their proposal for the new product launch," she replied. "They're expecting your feedback and approval."

Xavier nodded, making a mental note to review the proposal before the meeting. He had high expectations for the new product, and he wanted to ensure that the marketing team was on the right track.

As he entered his office, Xavier was struck by the stunning view of the city skyline. He took a deep breath, feeling a sense of pride and responsibility wash over him. His father had built the Chen Corporation from the ground up, and now it was Xavier's turn to take the company to new heights.

The morning flew by in a flurry of meetings and conference calls. Xavier's team was working on several high-profile projects, and he was determined to deliver results. At lunchtime, he met with his CFO, Emily, to discuss the company's financials.

"Xavier, I have to say, I'm impressed with the numbers," Emily said, smiling. "You've made some bold moves since taking over, and they're paying off."

Xavier smiled, feeling a sense of validation. "Thanks, Emily. I couldn't have done it without your guidance and expertise."

As the afternoon wore on, Xavier found himself growing increasingly restless. He had a meeting with a potential investor later that day, and he wanted to make sure he was prepared. He spent the next hour reviewing the company's financials and practicing his pitch.

When the investor arrived, Xavier greeted him with a firm handshake and a confident smile. The meeting went smoothly, with Xavier fielding questions and addressing concerns with ease.

As the investor left, Xavier felt a sense of relief wash over him. It had been a long day, but he had accomplished everything on his agenda. He leaned back in his chair, feeling a sense of pride and accomplishment.

Rachel knocked on the door, breaking the silence. "Mr. Chen, you have a message from your cousin, Raymond. He wants to meet with you tomorrow to discuss a new business opportunity. He also mentioned not forgetting tonight's party."

Xavier's eyes lit up with interest. "Schedule the meeting for tomorrow morning," he said, without thinking about the possibilities.

As he packed up his things and headed out of the office, Xavier felt a sense of excitement about what the future held. He was young, ambitious, and determined to take the Chen Corporation to new heights. The world was his for the taking, and Xavier was ready to seize it.
