Chapter 1 - Prologue

There are many ways to tell this story...

The glass of wine slipped from her delicate, pale fingers,

We could start at the very beginning...

Like her wounded heart, it fell to the marble ground and shattered into a million glittery peices,

Or perhaps, the middle, where the broken puzzle, slowly---started coming together...

She watched him, confused. And his dull green eyes studied hers, maintaining a cold and certain facade. Her confusion soon gave way to disbelief, and agonizing realization, as a burning pain tore through her throat, down to her stomach.

She coughed into a gloved hand, only to be met by the frightening sight of blood, disgusting, crimson and hers. The pain intensified to an overwhelming extent, one her frail body could no longer bear and she slumped, falling hard against the ground.

However, the end would also make a good beginning.

Throughout his eyes never left hers, as her body convulsed weakly. He frowned, the edges of his lips pulled into a pained grimace, his emotionless mask failing helplessly.

"Am sorry,"

he whispered, a look of regret overcoming his features.

"I had no choice,"

he said with a weak, unfamiliar tone.

"Ru--f-us,"

More blood left her lips as she attempted to speak, followed by a string of choked gasps. In seconds the beautiful woman before him, with braided golden hair, and a face as delicate as a flower.

"Ru--uu," she wheezed, stretching a bloodied gloved hand towards him, he stood and watched, as the one he would do anything for, the flower he loved, withered.

"Adelaide...,"

Although he stood still till she died, when the breath finally left her, he fell to his knees by her side and held unto her lifeless body. His shoulders trembled at the feel of her warm skin, gradually turning cold, and his hands went numb as he ran a loose strand of hair behind her left ear. The feelings he held back painstakingly, came to him in a rush, sudden and unbearable. He held her close to his chest and sobbed, tears pooling from his glazed eyes as he rocked the body of the woman he loved, and the woman who he had to kill.

"I...I am so--so sorry," he sobbed, trembling.

"I am so--sorry."

But the best part of this story, begins right after I died.
