Chapter 3 - Dear Jules #27

Dear Jules

Hey bro, I know it's been a bit, and you've probably been piled up with these letters. Twenty-seven of them, since you've been drafted to this war, to be exact. I also understand these letters are possibly not getting to you, but you know me! Always the optimist.

I'm keeping track on how many I write simply because I wanna know how many has been written by the time the war ends, when you're heading back.

Anyways, how are you? Any progression to fighting this war, against these Skinleggers? Better question, any idea where these Skinleggers came from? I figured you'd have an idea since.. well, you're a soldier now.. there's a lot of theories roaming around in Knothole, but most of them sound like a bunch of echidna chow. Well, except for one theory. You might find it dumb but I kind of like it.

The Ancients recently returned with "premonition", explaining that the cause of these tall metal wearing animals coming into our world is because of the Cosmic emerald they always obsess over. The only reason they think this is because they recently discovered a set of smaller gems... conveniently, at the same time these Skinleggers came into being.

I know it's a foolish and superstitious idea, but it makes you think outside the box.

Oh! Speaking of outside the box, your blue champ has grown a bit. I know you've only been able to hold him for a little over a year, but Sonic is already doing that goofy baby run. It's cute. Really cute. He runs over to point at the picture of you and Aleena after your first date. He keeps mistaking her for himself...

I keep pointing at you, telling him to say "daddy". He might be too young for talking. Shouldn't talking come first, instead of running? Then again,

[something erased].

He probably won't be much of a talker. Can't tell if that's your fault or mine.

I'm sorry you had to go and be the better brother. When you told them to take you, instead of me, because of my asthma. I'm shocked they couldn't tell you were giving them the biggest lie of your life. It should be you here, watching your boy grow. Not me.

Part of me begged for me to tell you to not go, but even if I did... I'm sure you'd play hero like you always do, and sink yourself deeper just to make sure I'd never be involved with this war.

Anyways, be sure to come back after this war ends. Open arms will be waiting

Your Best Bud

Chuck
