Chapter 184 - Chapter 184: Boredom Gives more problems

[Stacy's POV]

"Who are you!? How did you get in here?" I yelled, slamming open the doors to Kitsuna's room.

"Ah, ah, where am I?" The wolfkin stuttered, looking up at me, clearly confused.

"How did you get in here?" I asked again, seeing her bewilderment.

"Ah, ah, this shadow figure said she comes from the Draigs and then just said, 'I am sending you to my room.' I don't understand what's going on here," she stammered, inching closer to the egg behind her—something I hadn't even noticed until now.

"...Is that your egg?" I asked with a raised eyebrow, finally taking in the green object behind her.

"Ye-Yes?" she said, looking at me worriedly and protectively.

Sigh. "What the fuck did Kitsuna send us this time? Wait here. You're safe now, I guess." I muttered, shaking my head as I turned to leave.

"What?"

"I'll go and call Kayda to talk to you. She's a dragon, so she—" I started, only to be cut off by her panicked shout.

"No!! Don't! Please spare my kid," the woman cried, clutching the egg closer.

"What? Isn't your husband or boyfriend a dragon?" I asked, and at the word "dragon," I noticed her iris contract in raw fear.

"Oh, I see. Okay, I won't bring her here then," I said softly, nodding.

"Thank you," she replied, still visibly distressed.

"I'll also send in a maid with some food for you," I said, walking out of the room, not waiting for a reply.

Closing the door behind me, I turned to Rebecca.

"Get someone to bring her food. Preferably a wolfkin. Also, she's terrified of dragons—make sure no one mentions anything about dragons around her for now. And you personally go get Kitsuna; she needs to explain this shit."

"Will do," she said, heading off.

Sigh. "Now I need to go get Kayda and make sure she doesn't blow a fuse," I muttered, facepalming.

"Why do you need me?" Kayda suddenly asked from behind me.

"Ah, well, you see... is it possible for a dragon to have a kid with a wolfkin?" I asked, unsure of how dragon interspecies stuff worked.

"Yes, it is—if she's in her human form," Kayda said, making me realize the dragon was female.

"And if it's a he?" I asked, growing more concerned.

"Still possible—but the mother dies every time at childbirth," Kayda said, her brow furrowed.

"Ah, I see. But is there any chance the mother could survive?" I pressed again.

"Stacy, why all these questions?" Kayda asked, narrowing her eyes.

"My daughter found something outrageous again," I replied with a defeated sigh.

"...Haah, what is it this time?" she asked, already dreading the answer.

"In her room, there's a wolfkin with a green dragon egg," I said, pointing toward Kitsuna's door.

"And I presume the wolfkin is female?" Kayda asked, glancing at me.

"Yes."

"Let me see," she said, shaking her head as she moved toward the room.

"No, wait. Let me explain more," I said, quickly stepping in front of her.

"What?"

"She's very scared of dragons. Like, seriously terrified. Who can blame her? She gave birth to a dragon egg the size of her," I said, still trying to wrap my head around this situation.

"...I guess it would be quite dramatic to give birth to an egg," Kayda said, nodding.

"Somehow I think we're thinking about two different things," I said, raising an eyebrow.

"Huh?? What do you mean?"

"She's scared of dragons—not because of the birth—but in general," I explained, watching Kayda nod slowly in understanding.

"Oh... so you mean it like that. Well then, we just need to wait for Kitsu to show up," she said, turning around and heading to the nearest drawing room.

"Yeah," I said, following her.

Just then, two wolfkin maids passed us with new clothes and everything they might need to help the poor woman.

[Two hours later]

"Oh, Rebecca, you finally got her," I said, relieved, as Rebecca returned dragging the troublemaker behind her on the floor.

"Yes," she said, dropping Kitsuna beside our outdoor table.

"Zzzzzz."

"Is she out cold?" Kayda asked, looking at my daughter, concerned.

"Yeah, I found her like this outside some big hideout. Most of it was burned down by the time I got there. Amari and Zagan were nearby too. They seemed to be doing something... but I couldn't get any info out of them," Rebecca explained, frowning.

"Why? Did something happen to Amari?" I asked, alarmed.

"They both looked red-eyed and depressed."

"...Okay, one thing at a time," I said, forcing myself to stay focused.

"Agreed. Let's go talk to Amari first," Kayda said, placing Kitsuna on the couch.

"Agree."

"Do not worry. Amari is on her way here. She just went to freshen up before coming to you, ma'am," Rebecca added, holding a hand out.

"I see. Kayda, dump some water on this dimwit," I said, glaring at the sleeping fox.

"No! Let me rest, for crying out loud!!" the fox suddenly shouted, springing up to glare at me.

"Oh, you're awake," I said, unsurprised.

"Of course I'm awake! Do you think this BDSM woman would be gentle with me?" she shouted, glaring at Rebecca.

"But it seemed like you liked it," Rebecca replied with a smirk.

"Woman, you are married," Kitsuna said, looking disgusted.

"True. Well, I'll take my leave," Rebecca said, bowing and walking away.

Sigh. "Whatever. So, how is the little wolf?" she asked, stretching.

"Scared. She got some food and is sleeping in your bed with the egg."

"Tsk. And no angry dragon showed up? Boring," she muttered, clicking her tongue.

"What do you mean by that?" Kayda asked sternly, narrowing her eyes.

"Uhm."

'At least Kayda can shut her up,' I thought, sitting down and waiting for the explanation.

[One long-ass explanation with many gaps later.]

"So you wanted to fight an unknown dragon because you were bored?" I asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Yeah, the tournament isn't as fun as I thought it would be," Kitsuna replied, clearly unbothered.

"Going after an unknown dragon isn't exactly smart," I said, shaking my head.

"It's like the guy let his girl go with no protection," Kitsuna muttered, confused.

"What do you mean, his girl?" I asked, frowning.

"Well, she had his baby egg," Kitsuna said, agitated, still ready for a fight.

"Kitsuna, dragons aren't loyal to anyone but their soulmate. And finding your soulmate is like finding a needle in a haystack," Kayda said.

"Yeah, so? A descendant is a descendant," Kitsuna argued.

"The kid is going to be half-dragon, half-wolfkin," Kayda said, looking at her.

"Exactly! Both races have combat advantages," Kitsuna pointed out.

"Yes, and a lot of weaknesses," Kayda said, making me facepalm.

"Hey! Why the hell did we go from trying to help someone to how the kid will perform in fights!?" I shouted.

"Ah, right, sorry. Let's get back on topic," Kayda said, shaking her head.

"So the woman is asleep in your bed with her egg. And her egg is huge, even for royal dragonborns," I said, glancing at Kayda.

"Happens with interspecies births," she replied casually.

"...So what now?" Kitsuna asked, sounding more grounded.

"I don't know. Maybe we talk to her?" I suggested, shrugging.

"Good luck with that. I'm going to bed," Kitsuna said, moving toward the couch.

"Whoa, whoa, don't run away now."

"What?"

"She'll probably talk to you easiest."

"Why?"

"You're the one who saved her."

"Yeah, but I only did that to get her dragon here so I could kill him," she replied, tilting her head.

"Dragons aren't easily killed, Kitsu," Kayda said.

"Meh. Never tried," she shrugged.

"Sadly for you, he's not coming. He might've already forgotten the egg existed," Kayda said, with a shrug.

"..."

Kitsuna didn't say anything. Her expression shifted, and she silently walked out, leaving Kayda blinking.

"Why? What'd I say?"

Thud.

I knocked Kayda out cold with a single smack.

"Lucy, get Kayda in a room. When she wakes, make sure she understands what she just said," I said, looking at Lucy, who stood in the doorway.

'To think Kayda can be denser than Kitsuna… I hope Kitsuna will forgive her'.
