Realized she was fishing for answers, wanting to reassure her Alex said, "Diandra, I am here and as you can see I am fine.
My Sergeant took the offices to the hospital, so I went to the location and had to wait until I get a relief, so will you stop worrying please?"
"Did the officer got hurt badly, Alex?"
"No Diandra, from what Sergeant Gomez informs me, it was just a graze but he is quite a stubborn young man. He insist that he will be alright and will still check in to work tomorrow, although I instructed him to take a few days to rest."
"Alex, I know they respect you a lot at the office."
"And what about you Diandra, what do you think about me?"
Noticing when she bent her head, Alex lift her chin to look at her face, 'wanting desperately to know what she thinks about him?'
When she stood up saying as she walk away, "Let me see what I could fix for your dinner."
In the library taking out a plate from one box, and a cup from another. Checking the grocery he brought this morning.
Seeing it have sardine and crackers, she fix a sardine and made a hot cup of tea. Placing it in a tray and take it to him, "Here is your dinner, Sir."
Smiling up to her then rest the comb and the tv control down, "Let me wash my hands first."
Alex thought, as he went to rinse his hand, 'This feels so good coming home to find her in his room, and the way we was fooling around.
Hearing her laughing so happily feels really good, it makes the house so lively.'
Diandra takes up the control once again, flipping through a few channels seeing the same program, finally decided to change the channel to a movie channel, and relax as she continues with the combing of her hair.
Noticing as she blows dries her hair she keeps applying the hair food and comb, then dry.
When she began to plait her hair, Alex notices the many times she stop and stretches out her hand before she completes the plaiting.
'She had done well, learning how to manage her hair,' earlier when her hair was rumpled up she wanted to cry. Understanding as I comb it through how difficult it was to untangle it alone when it's nutty.
Looking at her lie down and close her eyes, she looks worn out after completing that task of platting her hair, then band her head with one of mom's scarf.
Glancing at her wondering if she is thinking of Ken and this Sam, I don't want to disrupt her life, but now that she is here it is not just a house it feels so homely.
Taking the tray to the library, washing the plate and cup and rinse the tray, Alex then dried his hand and return and sit on the couch.
Taking her feet and rest them on top his lap, massaging it seeing it slightly swollen.
Hearing her say, "Ouch, your hand is cold."
"And your foot is warm and nice, and Diandra, I know you are enjoying yourself helping the men but please, you didn't come to overwork yourself. I am paying Mr. Alvin to do the job."
"Alex, money is not everything, doing the job with love that's what makes the difference."
"You are right."
"Alex, I am enjoying this so much, thanks for thinking about me, your mom would be glad."
Feeling him tickling under her feet, "Stop that please," as she tries to pull her feet away but Alex tightens his hold. "Alex," he looks at her hearing how she calls his name so lovingly.
Alex thought, 'I have been so long alone, I never knew that being with someone could be so cozy and wonderful.
Hearing her laugh and helping her with her hair makes me want to be a part of her life.'
Glimpsing at her she was very quiet, and she looks comfortable. Stroking under her feet once more but there was no reaction or response, Alex knew she was sound asleep.
At that moment he wondered, 'What it would feel like to wake up with her in his arms.
Although we were married and together for a few months I never experience that joy.'
Closing his eyes, Alex so wanted to wipe out the memories of that night. Feeling her jump his eyes flip open, but she was asleep thinking, 'She must be dreaming.'
Rising up going to his study and dusts the couch then takes her up and rest her quietly down so her sleep won't be disturb.
Thinking, 'There are so many rooms in this house, but she rather sleep here in this lumpy couch.'
Returning to his room Alex picks up his bible and reads then prays. Alex realized that things have changed so much these last few days.
'This week will finish soon and next week she will be returning to Longfield.'
"Oh dear God, I enjoy sitting with her to eat my meals, Lord will I lose her, I have grown accustomed to seeing her around the house.
I look forward to coming home, knowing she will be here waiting for me. But when she returns what excuse will I make? Who will I have to return to?' Feeling the tears rolling down his face.
Recalling, 'That day when he stood in her gallery, "Lord, I had loved her then, but now it is so different.
Lord, the thought of her returning and I am not a part of her life hurt terribly, I don't know what to do, I love her so much."
Feeling the pillow soak, Alex wipes his face knowing, 'Now that she is here, it had made him so vulnerable and weak, he have never cried for her, and now. he feel as though he was losing his mind?'
Walking down the stairs after eight that Thursday morning, having this joy just hearing her laughing in the house, 'It lights up the house bringing it so alive.'
Seeing she and Mr. Alvin discussing some plan she must have concocted in her head.
They had made a lot of progress, every side Alex turns some work was being done, "Diandra!"
When she looked up hearing her say, "You stay right there." Standing still, as she sweeps the floor then step across to him.
"Alex, that slippers won't do, here put on one of your sneakers and I leave breakfast in the library, you just have to reheat it."
Observing her wearing one of his turtle neck jerseys, and her hair was banded with one of mom's scarfs. This one was thicker than the one she had used last night.
Doing as she said, Alex went and put on the sneakers. Hearing her laughing, Alex turns around to see what she was laughing for.
