After slowly collecting myself with the thought that i only killed the lizard man after he had tried to kill me first and that it was an act of self defence, i pick myself up off the sand and wipe my mouth. Then i walk over to the bike. Using my knees and leverage i flip the bike off the corpse and put it right side up. Looking at the lizard man corpse i see that the holes i pierced through his white tunic had already knit themselves back together and that the blood stains magically disapeared. "must be a self repair function" i mutter to myself. Then still feeling in shock from what i had just done i begin to do what any good player does in a rpg, i collect my loot. It feels weird to have to strip the body of his valuables instead of just hitting the loot like in a game but my current mindset makes the experience go by in a blur. after pulling on the now dead mans cloths i find myself in a white tunic and pants with a brown rope like belt which has a satchel attached to it, to complete th ensemble a pair of brown boot protect my feet from the hot sand. there's also a back leather back scabbard which i looped ove one of my shoulders carrying the mans sword.
I look into the satchel but as i open i feel my consciousness drawn into it to find a large space inside filled with all sorts of things. Everything from gold coins to cooking supplies are inside. There's also a piece of parchment inside that appears to be detailed orders from the mans superiors to have him go to the warp gate and travel to a place called Andora to purchase supplies for one of the mining camps, which is why the man had so much money and such a large spatial storage pouch on him. In the satchel is also a medallion on him that hes supposed to show to the guards to gain access to the warp gate. Overall, not only did i gain the means to survive in the dessert but i also gained the ability to access the warp gate without having to fight my way through, plus i gained enough money to purchase enough supplies for a whole mining camp. Saying my gains were substantial would be an understatement.
After taking stock of my loot i begin to examine the hover bike like contraption. Its functions where pretty self explanatory considering im used to earth technology. theres a glowing circle on the dashboard that is currently blinking red which at first i try to press like a button which dosent work. Then thinking of something i place my palm on it and try to inject it with some of my energy. Immediately afterwards the circle lights up green and the bike hovers into the air. Putting my hands on the handlebars of the bike i notice that theres a small plate where my right hand should go, so i repeat the processes i just dit and feed the plate with my energy which causes the machine to begin to move forward. Retracting my energy brings the machine to an immediate stop. Pretty simple overall.
I find myself racing towards the warp gate across the dunes of the desert. Before to long i see lights in the distance but i dont slow down, inside the orders i found in the satchel was a time slot to fill in order to use the warp gat to travel to Andora. So i race towards the lights as fast as the hover bike would take me. I also found a detailed map of the desert inside the satchel which i how i knew it was the warp gate i was approaching.
Upon reaching the warp gate i will the hover bike inside of the satchel as id done with other things id found in the satchel after inspecting it, and surprisingly it fits inside. The warp gate resembles what a stargate was portrayed to look like on a popular show back on earth. It was metallic in nature and shaped like a large circle which had been flattened at the bottom where it met a raised platform, it had a large metallic ramp leading up to the platform. At the top of the platform where two guards, one of which was standing by what i assumed to be the control panel that was situated to the right of the warp gate. I walkk up the ramp and pull the medallion out of my spatial storage and show it to the guard. Surprisingly he dosent say anything to me and motions to the other guard at the control panel who pushes a few buttons which causes the warp gate to activate filling the circular object with a rippling shimmering silvery film, the first guard then motions me forward. Stepping past him i cross into the warp gain I finally gain my freedom!
Stepping out of the the warp gate i'm immediately assaulted by the clamor of a big city. The sounds of people and the cries of magical beasts fill the air. My blurry vision comes into focus to see crowds of people traveling in all directions, flying magical beasts with riders on their backs fill the skies, weaving through the tall skyscrapers in what appears to be a chaotic mess. Yet everything seems to flow seamlessly. The sight is so foreign to me that i cant help but pause and gawk, not moving even a foot further from the exit of the warp gate.
"Keep moving you country bumkin" the guard says, jolting me out of my daze and making me feel every bit out of place as i already look.
So I quickly move off of the platform that houses the warp gate and move over to the right side where there are less people moving about. There's a restaurant there, i smell the aroma of delicious food wafting from its entrance. I stand there and take another look around. What grabs my attention this time is that all the skyscrapers seem to be made entirely out of multi colored glass surfaces. The only parts not covered in glass are the portions covered by different varieties of plants, which almost covers as much surface of the buildings as the glass itself. The aesthetic gives me the strange impression of being inside of a forest even though im clearly inside of a vast city that is not in any way inferior to one of the modern cities id visited back on earth.
Smelling the food again i feel the familiar feeling of my stomach rumbling realizing that i had not eaten anything since i stepped inside of World Game. I had forgotten about food, at some point i had still believed i was playing some kind of high tech V.R game, with how unreal all my experiences have been so far.
So i step inside the door to the restaurant and am greeted by the hostesses, who appears to be human at first glance except for her pointed ears and clearly natural blue hair. As she greets me it occurs to me that i have i have no problem understanding the local dialect. lost in thought at this revelation she repeats herself again, but this time in a slightly annoyed tone "How may i help you sir? Would you be dining with us this evening?'
Snapping out of my reverie i reply "Yes id like a table for just myself please"
She grabs a menu, the action slightly calming me down by how familiar the previous exchange and action was to any typical restaurant you'd find on earth. She then leads me down a hall with booths on both sides before coming to an empty one telling me to take a seat and that a server would be right there to take my order. Everything is still eerily similar to earths customs.
About forty five minutes later a walk out of the restaurant with a satisfied expression on my face. My first dining experience in Andora was extremely satisfying. The food similar to food back on earth, the dish i had picked out kind of tasted like chicken but was slightly spicy and reminded me of some indian food my sister had made me try once.
I was also able to gain a grasp on how the money system worked in this world. I had gained fifty Golden coins from looting the lizard man, but the meal had only cost thirty copper coins. it turns out that one hundred copper coins equals one silver coin, while one hundred silver coins equal one golden coin. The waiter looked at me kind of funny for having to explain that all to me but the knowledge valuable enough to endure the strange glances i received.
Being so close to the cities warp gate the waiter was also able to provide me with a map of the city and even suggested a place to find a relatively cheap room to rent. Of course he only did all that after i left a hefty tip that equaled the price of my meal.
So now armed with a map and a destination i headed out to find the hotel called The Flying Dragon.
