Claiming to have a master was like adding a layer of protection for himself.
Now, Jing Yan no longer needed to hide anything from Hu Donghe, but explaining this nonexistent master was troublesome.
Telling Hu Donghe that his master had left this world wasn't a lie since Jing Yan had accepted the legacy of the master of the Death Temple and could be considered, at least, a half-disciple of the Death Temple's master.
