They entered the Memory and they appeared in front of the Reaktor of Nibelheim. They could see Nibelheim burning in the distance as the Reactor was quite critical as well.
John entered the Reactor dragging Cloud with him as he was frozen stiff from seeing his hometown burning.
They see a young woman crying over a man's body while Zack was trying to stop Sephiroth from doing more harm.
"I don't remember this," says Cloud as he sees himself entering the Reaktor after Zack was defeated by Sephiroth.
The woman cried herself to sleep as younger Cloud carries her out of the Reactor with Zack before entering again while carrying the sword that he couldn't almost handle.
He encountered Sephiroth and pierces him from the back injuring him as Sephiroth pushes Cloud back. They began a fight that Sephiroth was winning without trying when Cloud got pierced by Sephiroth in his abdomen.
Cloud was hanging over the Lifestream as Sephiroth was smiling when Cloud suddenly began to fight back. He grabbed the blade as he pulled himself onto the platform surprising Sephiroth. Cloud breaks Masamune and pierces Sephiroth a second time before Sephiroth falls into the Lifestream with his broken sword.
Cloud then only collapses there holding the Broadsword as everything turned dark when Cloud question himself, "Is this why I hate Sephiroth?"
"I don't know," says John as they returned to the space with the windows there still were windows that were fuzzy or blurry.
"How about we make a pause for now and you process what you have found out for now," says John as Cloud had some difficulties in processing everything.
"Is this really my past? What about the other things that I have done?" asks Cloud himself as John was meditating.
"You can't change the past the only thing you can do is move forward. But it is definitely easier knowing who you are then being just a puppet," says John as Cloud looks at him angrily.
"You don't understand anything," says Cloud as John nods.
"I really don't understand your situation but I have done things that no normal person would do," says John as he put his hand on Cloud head and both appeared in one of John's most hated memory.
They were in Soul Society, a younger version of John was standing beside three people who were surrounded.
"This is the only thing I won't be able to forgive myself for," says John as he walked forward in this memory guiding Cloud and continues, "I was still young and thought the mission stands over everything else. I was cold and calculative. I disregarded the feeling of the people to accomplish the mission even my own."
"What do you mean?" asks Cloud as John points at a younger version of Nesiara.
"This is my wife. Well, we weren't married back then but in a brother-sister relationship because she saw me as her brother. She didn't know that I loved her," says John as Cloud looked confused at him.
"Do you see the person behind me with brown hair and the glasses," says John as Cloud nods.
"That is or better said was one of our objectives but to make it faster I had the bright idea of joining the enemy to finish the task faster," says John with an angry tone as he tries to hit his former-self only for his fist to pass through.
"In reality, I was frustrated that Nesiara fell in love with someone else. That's the real reason I betrayed the person I loved the most back then. I wasn't brave enough to confess my feeling to her and was afraid I would lose her to someone else," says John as his eyes turned red as the memory began to play.
He still can't stand to see Nesiara's and his face. He didn't realize it back then but now seeing the memory he can see a little smile on his face making him even angrier as he already was trying to break his former-self face with no result.
Cloud was seeing that and wanted to walk over but couldn't move when John calms himself down and continues, "You see the expression of betrayal on her face right. Well, I swore to myself that she would never make such a face ever again after seeing it."
"I broke her and it needed time to reconstruct her. She isn't the same as she used to be but her innocence was lost right at that moment because of me. I realized that later when I arrived in Hueco Mundo what I really did and how much damage I really caused. But the worst thing was that she might look like she recuperated from this but she didn't," says John calmly as he looked at Cloud.
"You need to know your past and accept it even if you hate yourself. You need to rise through it and not let it hold you down. You need to embrace your faults and surpass them to become better," says John as the memory shifted to another one.
They were in a house made out of wood. John was sitting on a chair he was eating breakfast alone when a girl entered the room. She was wearing clothes that were far too big for her as she looked around as if she was lost when John's former-self asks, "You want to eat something?"
The girl only nods as John went to the kitchen and returned with a heated up plate with porridge. He helps the girl into her seat after putting the plate onto the table.
The girl was confused as she asks, "Are you, my father?"
John's former-self felt something like never before when John says, "That's the day I became a father. This is Yui my oldest. You could say it was one of my happiest memories that doesn't include Nesiara."
John's former-self began to feed Yui with a spoon as he says, "You can call my Dad if you want to."
"Thank you, Dad," says Yui as she was eating the porridge that John was feeding her with.
"This gave me many things to think about as I promised myself that I would protect my family with everything I have even if it means to die for them," says John as Cloud could see his determination.
They suddenly returned to the space full of windows as John says, "Now you must find your reason to fight."
Cloud nods as he was still lost but was now determined to find his way so he could protect the people he cares for. John smiled as he saw the determination in Cloud.
The next window appeared as John asks, "You ready?"
"Yes," says Cloud determined as he passed through it without John's help.
They find themselves in some basement that had quite the books in it with Cloud and Zack being in a container with fluids. Cloud's former-self had his eyes open but his eyes were dim with almost no life in them.
Zack, on the other hand, was fighting to escape the container until he made it. He grabbed his sword and sees Cloud and says, "Hold on I will have you out of there in a minute."
Zack breaks the glass as the fluids come out. He takes Cloud out if the container and changes his clothes into the ones of a SOLDIER as he begins to carry Cloud as well as his sword.
"So this is when I was infused with Mako and got those clothes," says Cloud as he was calmer than before his head wasn't that much in pain as before because he was slowly accepting his past.
Zack escaped the basement only to be awaited by Shinra employees who needed to be taken out before he could escape.
He puts Cloud down before saying, "Just hold on. We will make it to Midgar and find the answer to what happened to us."
Zack then begins to fight the people defeating them all before returning to Cloud. He picks him up and they begin to move again. They leave the destroyed Nibelheim.
The memory stopped there as Cloud and John returned to the space with the windows and Cloud says, "So this Zack was the Soldier and I just imitated him."
"I don't know it could be. I don't know you that good to judge you," says John as the last blurry memory was floating in front of them.
"The last one," says John as Cloud walks towards it.
"Then let us get it behind us," says Cloud as he entered it. John followed as he then finds himself outside Midgar surrounded by Shinra's Troops.
Zack was standing in front of Cloud as he rushed at the troops. It was quite a fierce battle as blood could be found everywhere. The victor was Zack as he had a smile on his face while the sun was shining down upon him.
"You see Cloud, we made it," says Zack as he was carrying a lifeless Cloud.
They manage to escape as a person took both in a truck towards the city when suddenly everything went black as they could only hear a gunshot while Zack shouts "Cloud!"
"He could be dead or alive. It seems you don't remember or don't have anything else to remember about your past," says John as they were back in the space with windows.
"I also don't know it," says Cloud as he tried really hard to remember if Zack was alive or dead but he couldn't remember.
"Well, we will find out sooner or later. We were stuck here quite a long time," says John as he was about to release the jutsu when Cloud stopped him.
"Who are you?" asks Cloud as John smiles.
"Right, I never told you my name. I'm John Crownguard," says John as he smiles and continues, "Now how about we return. The others must be worried."
John then releases the jutsu as they opened their eyes in reality finding themselves inside a house.
In the meantime John and Cloud were inside Cloud's mindscape, Nesiara was standing with the other in front of the Leaf House when she uses magic to make John and Cloud levitate float in the air.
"We should return home. Yui, you look after the children just make sure they are alright even if Abigail just wanted to delete their memories it still could have caused damage to them," says Nesiara as Yui nods and takes the children inside to examine them.
Nesiara then looks at the trio and says, "We should go home."
Nesiara was carrying both John and Cloud in midair making it quite easy for her since everyone was asleep.
They arrived at the bridge when Nesiara makes Elmyra float as well as she was lying in one of the flower fields.
Nesiara then continued going to their house. Once at home she put John and Cloud down while she carried Elmyra up to let her rest in a bed with Aerith.
"She should wake up in a moment. How about you look over her until she wakes up," says Nesiara as Aerith nods determinedly and Nesiara leaves the room.
Nesiara walked down finding Nora and Kieron looking over their father when she says, "He won't be out until tonight at least."
"Nora entered his head before but returned quite fast," says Kieron as Nesiara smiles at his ignorance while Nora sighs at it.
"Your sister just looked into his recent memory. Your father, on the other hand, isn't going through his recent memory but through all of them. Why do you think the Whispers appeared when John entered his mind but not when Nora went in," says Nesiara as she walked to the kitchen.
"But why is he inside that terrorist's mind?" asks Kieron as he really hated Cloud's guts.
"Its because your father can see his former-self inside the boy," says a voice that the family recognizes.
