"I want to break up with you"
"Why?"
"Since we both will be going in different directions in life, it won't work out."
"Can we talk about this?"
"Okay, Lojo Lounge 4pm"
At a park, just before sundown, Vez Nok was speaking on the phone to his girlfriend. The fact that his high school sweetheart wanted to break up with him made him feel a bit sad. Taking a deep breath, he stood up and took a cab back to the city.
Cape Point City: A city on the coast of South Africa, destined to be developed exclusively for business and luxury. Numerous luxury shops have already occupied the side streets, and high-rise buildings are currently under construction."
While walking on the sidewalk, Vez Nok came across a group of people standing near a holographic video that was broadcasting today's news. He went up closer and stood behind the people to take a look at the report. 'She is really pretty,' Vez Nok thought while watching the news broadcast.
"Greetings, citizens of Cape Point City! Today's forecast predicts cloudy weather with a 14% chance of rain. We also have a special announcement: twenty-three students from our city will be attending Wellington Academy. They achieved the highest academic scores in our city, and once again, our schools have proved their excellence."
"Is that Emma Oakley? She's truly stunning."
"It's her debut as a news reporter today."
"She doesn't even need to work; her family is so wealthy."
During the news report, a plumbing van stopped just behind Vez Nok. Two people jumped out, wearing animal masks. They swiftly seized Vez Nok, tossing him into the van with a black bag over his head. Unfortunately, as Vez Nok stood at the back of the crowd, nobody noticed the kidnapping. The crowd was listening attentively to the the report, leaving him without a chance to cry for help.
The bag was removed from Vez Nok, revealing three people in the van, including the driver. His nerves fluttered as one of them held a gun pointed at him. The tinted windows obscured his view, leaving him clueless about the van's destination.
Vez Nok sat in silence until one of the kidnappers finally broke it. "Do you want to know why?" A female voice emerged from the one wearing a sheep mask.
She didn't give him a chance to reply and then said, "Even I don't get it. Give me your phone." Vez Nok took out his phone and handed it to her. She, in turn, passed it to the driver. Since no window could open at the back, the driver threw the phone out of the window. "It's going to be a long drive; get comfortable," she said.
"Don't kidnappers usually take the victim's wallet and any other valuables before they kill them?" Vez Nok asked slowly.
"If you don't keep quiet, it will happen," a male voice, emanating from the cat mask, threatened coldly.
"Sorry, he's a bit grumpy since his cat went missing," the sheep said.
"Ironic," Vez Nok thought.
The sheep was true to her word. Vez Nok couldn't tell how long the drive had been; he felt the car swerving on the road as if it was losing traction. Just when he was about to ask if he could take a bathroom break, the van slowly came to a stop.
The cat grunted and opened the door. "Get out." Vez Nok looked outside and saw only sand. They were leaving him in the desert. After he got out, they closed the van door and drove away.
Vez Nok watched the van drive off and thought he could just follow the tracks, but he had to be quick. So, he got moving.
Back in Cape Point City close to the scene where Vez Nok got abducted "Captain we found the phone" a police man said as he handed the phone over to his superior.
Upon receiving the phone, the captain gave it to his IT guy on the scene. When they cracked the phone, they discovered that Vez Nok was meeting with his girlfriend at Long Beach Lounge. As soon as the captain received this information, he sent a text message to someone, revealing what he had just learned.
