After several hours of searching the island, the sun started to set on the horizon, causing the team to come together and share their results. Everyone reunited at the same table they were previously having lunch. A crimson sky was above them and a cool breeze was refreshing them.
"I think I'll start off," Maki took the initiative and started the conversation, "It's really hard to find any types of fruits or vegetables, there are not too many trees, although some of the food stalls had some food, and the appliances work, so if we find any raw meats we can easily cook them."
"As far as the types of food we found, there were various hotdogs and fries" Keebo started to pull the food out of his bag. The hot dogs were nicely wrapped around a sheet of aluminum foil, "Better yet, they're still warm, meaning, its safe to eat them!" Keebo said with a proud voice as he puffed his chest in victory, he was glad he could be of any help to their team.
"Miu, did you manage to build that filter?" Maki asked as he saw Miu being entranced by the number of hotdogs on the table.
"Oh? Y-yeah kind of..." She was caught off guard, her hunger had won her over hours ago. "I mean I have the most important pieces, I still need to find one more, but it is so common in can be found in any of these mechanical babies" Surprisingly enough, Miu didn't rely on any derogative comments or unnecessary self-flattery. She was trying to become an easier person to be around, and she was slowly working on it.
"You think you can get it going by tomorrow morning?" Maki asked.
"Who the fuck do you think I am! Of fucking course, I can do it!" And just like that, Miu was back into square one.
"Just say yes, I don't need to hear the rest," Maki said while glaring daggers at Miu. "Kirumi did you managed to get somewhere we could sleep?" Just one more thing remained, a roof where to sleep, since the island was full of different rides and attractions, it will be pretty easy to get somewhere to sleep.
"I did, however, let's say the place is not pretty aesthetically wise." Everyone looked at Kirumi confused.
After having dinner, having hot dogs as the main dish, the group followed Kirumi until they found themselves in front of a funny-looking building.
"A funhouse?" Keebo was the first one to say anything while everyone was thinking about Kirumi's idea.
"What the hell is this color about?" Miu added with a piece of her mind, as she saw the bright red color encompassing the whole building.
"I know this isn't the ideal shelter, however, it is the only one that had different rooms, beds, and clean bedding clothing was available" Kirumi tried to convince everyone about it.
"We can't overthink it," Maki tried to make everyone understand one huge point about this situation, " Everyone needs to remember that this is a challenge, being comfortable with every single thing is considered a luxury right now, we need to stick to what we have"
"I agree with Maki, it is important that we have a roof under our heads, doesn't matter what type of place, in the end, humans can survive anything by having a shelter" Korekiyo supported Maki, and added one fo his quick facts to the mix.
"I put clean sheets over the beds they're ready for the night, however, there are two people who will have to share their room and bed" Everyone looked confused about it. "Apparently there are two sections in this funhouse, but we can only access one of these, a section has four rooms and each room has a queen-sized bed, just enough for two people to fit" Kirumi showed everyone a layout that was available on one of the walls of the house. "I am offering myself to share a room with someone else" Kirumi was trying to live on her own terms, but that didn't mean that she would let go of her concern for everyone else so quickly.
Maki was the obvious second person to fill in this gap, but someone else took the lead.
"U-um, in that case, I can share a room with you if you like to" The voice was coming from one shy Miu, who didn't know what to say. She sheepishly looked away.
"I would be happy to share a room with you Miu" Kirumi kindly smiled at Miu's proposition.
"What happened between those two?" Everyone was thinking this as they saw this curious scene develop.
Darkness filled the night, every single student in the three islands was sleeping, however the same could not be said for the people watching them over.
A room was still filled with some life even at nighttime. Filled with monitors showing live feed on each of the islands, there sat various chairs. From those, only two were occupied.
"Finally everyone is sound asleep" Hajime, Shuichi's tutor said.
"It was about time, watching over everyone was more tiring than I thought" Besides him, the first friend he made when he found himself for the first time on this island. Nagito Komaeda.
"We still need to watch them overnight, are you up to the task?" Hajime said, by making it sound like a challenge.
"Oh believe me if I miss the moment where my beacons of hope light up, I am going to regret it deeply" Nagito turned around and went to get some coffee from another table. "So Hinata, how is everything with Mikan lately" As soon as Nagito finished talking, Hajime started to tremble.
"W-what do you mean Komaeda?" He feigned ignorance, what else could he do in this situation.
"Of course, something happened between you two" Nagito said with full confidence, like he could read Hajime's mind.
"How are you so sure about it...?" Hajime couldn't figure out how to react, he was completely against the wall.
"Well you know a couple of hours back when we were having lunch, your eyes started shuffling around as soon as Mikan crossed your vision" Nagito was quite the observer, almost landing on the creepy category. "And also, your face blushed as soon as that happened, so whats up with that?" Hajime didn't have any way out of this one, there was no reason to hid it anymore.
"Let's say it was a special - weird- but special event" Hajime stated as his cheeks went fully red.
