Chapter 220 - The God of Grampa Canyon

"Beep boop bop beep!"

Though the robotic beeping coming from the figure could be considered humorous under different circumstances, the fact that it was coming from an eight foot tall behemoth made of pure rock wasn't. Even more so as it stared down at Brock and I with obvious hostile intentions.

"Regirock..." Brock uttered in awe at the figure, which was one of the Legendary pokemon created by Regigigas. Unfortunately, we didn't have any time to admire the legendary pokemon as it readily raised one of it's massive club-like arms over us.

"Protect!"

*CRAAAAAAASH!*

Before Regirock could hit us with what looked to be a Hammer Arm attack, Lucario appeared over us and used Protect, allowing him to shield both Brock and I from the attack. However, even if Lucario's Protect managed to hold, just barely, the ground around us still caved in to form a crater as numerous cracks spread out in every direction.

"Close Combat!" I ordered Lucario the second Regirock finished it's attack, prompting him to step so close that he wouldn't be able to defend himself as he delivered a barrage of powerful attacks in rapid succession.

"RAAAAAAA!" Lucario roared as he attacked Regirock, before delivering a finat punch that made the Legendary slide backseveral feet to give us some breathing room.

"Leave this to us!" I told Brock as we both leapt to our feet, though I also glanced over at the flying pokemon that were battling the others as they tried to find themselves a snack. Unbelievably, they ALL appeared to be Aerodactyl!

"Charizard!" I cried out while tossing up his pokeball.

"CHAAAAAAAR!" He roared while sending up a blast of flame, drawing the attention of several Aerodactyl as he did so.

"Do you see that big bastard flying up there?" I asked him, pointing to the largest of Aerodactyl present that was obviously an alpha.

"Char!"

"Well I don't wanna."

Charizard exhaled a puff of smoke at my words, before he proceeded to launch himself skywards at the rampaging Aerodactyl.

"We've got Regirock and the alpha covered! Can we leave the rest to you?" I asked Brock while turning my attention back to Regirock, right as it charged Lucario.

"Lucy and I can handle them!" Brock stated firmly, before hurrying to join the others while also calling out his own pokemon, particularly his Rhyperior and his own Aerodactyl.

I turned back towards Lucario and Regirock right as the latter used Hammer Arm yet again, and Lucario responded with Meteor Mash.

"Ready partner?" I asked while focusing my aura.

"Always!" Lucario answered with a smirk visible on his face. The fucker was enjoying this!

Can't say I wasn't though, which only made our synchronization all the easier as our auras fused.

""Harmony!""

***

Brock hurried up the side of the ravine while directing his pokemon to keep the Aerodactyl away from the people. If things weren't so urgent, then he would have been more excited than he'd ever felt in his life at what was happening right now! Well, maybe not as excited as he was the day he met Lucy...

"Brock! What's happening?!" Lucy demanded as she hurried to his side.

"A Regirock appeared from somewhere underground and attacked us! Ace and Lucario are battling it now, but a whole pack of Aerodactyl also appeared! We need to keep them from attacking the people!" Brock explained, right as Lucy sent out her Milotic.

"I thought Aerodactyl were supposed to be extinct?!" She exclaimed, even as she directed her Milotic to use Scald on a few of them.

"They ARE! Or at least, they're SUPPOSED to be!" Brock told her, as he also had no idea what was happening. Only that they needed to keep the people here safe from being attacked by Aerodactyl.

Thankfully there were several trainers that were already battling them, some of which Brock noticed had looks of anticipation in their eyes as they battled the prehistoric pokemon.

"Haaa... I suppose its to be expected." Brock murmured to himself since it didn't take much thought to know these trainers were itching to catch the rampaging Aerodactyl. After all, pokemon resurrected from fossils were already rare, but what about pokemon that were suposed to be extinct, but were actually still alive?

But there were the two rarest of the entire bunch.

Regirock was a given, but there was also the alpha Aerodactyl overhead.

"SCREEEEEYAAAAAAAA!" Aerodactyl screeched as it swoooped down at them, obviously seeing them as nothing more than prey to be consumed. And with a mouth that large, it was no wonder.

The alpha Aerodactyl opened that mouth as draconic flames gathered within that it prepared to rain down upon them, right as a blazing meteor dropped out of the sky.

"CHAR!"

Charizard roared as he charged Aerodactyl, his body flaming even as he coated his tail in steel type energy for a powerful Iron Tail.

*BOOM!*

Charizard's attack slammed into Aerodactyl's head to force it's mouth shut, and sending it crashing into the side of the ravine.

"Aerrrrrrrrrr...." Aerodactyl growled menacingly as it focused it's attention on Charizard.

Never in it's life had ANY dared to challenge it. Yet here and now there was one who flapped their wings arrogantly as they sneered down at it from above, as if THEY were the ruler of the air!

"SKREEEEEEEEYAAAAAAAAAAAA!" Aerodactyl roared, all thoughts of feasting upon the new prey gone from it's mind as it instead decided to teach this.....interloper who TRULY rulled these endless blue skies!

"Humph." Charizard snorted some flames down at Aerodactyl in contempt, infuriating Aerodactyl even more.

It flapped it's massive wings, creating a cloud of dust that obstructed the entire ravine as it took flight once more. Except this time specifically to deal with this interloper.

Opening it's maw once again, Aerodactyl spewed out a veritable tsunami of draconic flames that filled sky.

Dragon Breath!

In the face of the draconic flames, Charizard dove right into them while using Flame Charge, coating his body with his own flames to mitigate the damage as he dove right for Aerodactyl.

"CHAR!" He roared as his right claw crackled with electricity from Thunder Punch, which he slammed into Aerodactyl in the exact same place he struck with his Iron Tail previously.

*KER-KRACK!*

Thunder tore through the air and Aerodactyl's Dragon Breath ceased as it was assaulted by electric power for the first time in it's entire life. Which only infuriated it further.

Managing to stay in the air this time, Aerodactyl concentrated it's power to pick up several massive chunks of stone from the ravine, stones as large as buildings, and send them hurtling right at Charizard.

Ancient Power!

Charizard's lips curled upwards in a sneer as he watched the numerous massive boulders fly at him, which he mostly dodged with ease. The exception was one that was larger than the others, but it didn't worry Charizard in the slightest.

"CHAAAAAAAAAAAAR!" He roared as he channeled the energy for Fire Blast, which he sent at the boulder at full power.

It didn't destroy the boulder, but instead superheated it as Charizard shot towards it with his claws shimmering from using Dragon Claw.

On the other side, Aerodactyl was feeling pretty good about itself in dealing with the interloper. Of course, part of that was the surge of power it had received from using Ancient Power. What it had NOT seen coming though, was the same massive boulder it had sent flying at Charizard.

Using Dragon Claw to add power to his claws, Charizard caught the now glowing boulder in midair before sending it flaying back at Aerodactyl. Who, unfortunately, was not expecting him to send it's own attack right back at it.

"Humph." Charizard snorted yet again at Aerodactyl, now understanding it completely.

Charizard was born powerful, thanks to his blessing from Ho-Oh, but he had not relied entirely on the power he was born with to fight his battles for him. From the moment he first could, Charizard had participated in his trainer's training as much as possible. He had push his boundaries again and again to become as strong as possible.

When he lost to Gary's Wartortle, Charizard trained himself to become used to the pain from water and strengthened himself as much as possible to avenge his loss, which he did the very next time they ran into Gary. Then Charizard lost to Nemona's Lycanroc, which he had a double weakness against on top of it being a Champion class pokemon. But that didn't stop him. Charizard pushed himself harder than ever, and only a few days later repayed Lycanroc in full for the humiliation he suffered.

Aerodactyl on the other hand was born stronger than all others around it due to it's alpha lineage, meaning it had NEVER been properly challenged in its entire life. It may have power in spades, but had no idea how to deal with someone on equal footing, or even stronger than itself.

Realizing this, Charizard decided to finish this battle as he dove down at Aerodactyl once again, who had recovered from being hit with the burning boulder and was now more pissed than before.

What it had NOT been expecting though, was another meteor in the form of Charizard himself as he delivered a barrage of attacks to it without pause.

Never before had Aerodactyl been so thoroughly outclassed. Never had it faced an opponent that was both faster and stronger than it. And never had it been so humiliated as Charizard delivered a seemingly endless barrage of attacks, one after the other.

Iron Tail.

Metal Claw.

Steel Wing.

Thunder Punch.

Dragon Claw.

Dragon Breath.

Charizard never let up, and never gave Aerodactyl an opening to allow it to either retaliate or escape. And for the finisher, he gripped it by it's wings and planted his feet into it's back while tucking his own.

The duo entered a freefall as they plummeted to the ground below, Charizard riding atop Aerodactyl the entire time until they crashed into the rocky ground at the edge of the ravine.

Then, while appearing completely unfazed about literally falling out of the sky, Charizard got off of Aerodactyl and gripped it by the neck before lifting it in the air.

The prehistoric pokemon was completely limp as Charizard held it out over the edge of the ravine, before he released it to let it fall.

"""..."""

"How brutal..." Brock uttered as he and the others watched the whole thing. Though he cocked a brow when he saw one of the trainers edging closer towards where Aerodactyl fell, a pokeball in their hand.

"Are you going to stop him?" Lucy whispered to him while directing a glare at the audacious trainer.

"Nah." Brock answered without any hesitation, before adding in a tone that carried to the trainer, "Because he'll have to try and get by HIM."

Pointing to Charizard as he said that, the trainer paused as he realized the genuine danger he would be in if he tried to swipe the alpha Aerodactyl from under Charizard's nose, especially when the pokemon directed a quick look towards him at the same time.

With not just the alpha, but ALL of the Aerodactyl now defeated, Brock and the others watched with bated breaths as the battle continued below between Ace, Lucario and Regirock.

"Shouldn't someone try to help him?!" One of the other trainers asked worriedly.

"If you wanna get in the middle of that, then go right ahead." Brock told them in a sarcastic voice, already knowing that NONE of his pokemon, even if they all attacked together, would even be able to hold a candle to Regirock.

"But Ace and his Lucario are down there by themselves, fighting a literal GOD!" Another voice declared worriedly, Brock's younger sister that brought Ace his breakfast earlier.

"And this is exactly what he and his pokemon have trained for." Brock replied, earning him numerous stunned looks even as he continued.

"To Ace the League, from the Gym Leaders to the Elite Four and even the Champions are nothing more than stepping stones on his path to strength. Ace's true goal, is to be able to take on the gods themselves."

***

"GO!" I roared as I chucked a pokeball at Regirock right as Lucario hammered it with another Close Combat, sucking it inside before the pokeball clattered to the ground.

*...*

*CRACK!*

Without even struggling in the slightest, cracks spread throughout the pokeball before it shattered and Regirock reappeared.

"Damn..." I swore irritably, even before it turned it's attention to me.

"Shit."

"Beep boop bop beep."

The seven H-shaped lights that made up it's face twinkled ominously as it looked at me, before they all started gathering energy.

"FUCK!"

I yelled as I bolted over the rocky landscape before it could hit me with that Charge Beam.

"NO YOU DON'T!" Lucario roared as he appeared beside Regirock, and hammered it with another Meteor Mash to disrupt it's aim.

*KABOOOOOOOOOM!*

The earth itself shook from the force of Regirock's attack as a massive chunk of it vanished, before it continued as it swung it's massive club-like arm around at Lucario.

*BOOM!*

The hit sent Lucario flying as he skipped over the ground until he hit the opposite side of the ravine, forming a crater as he did so.

"Beep boop."

Regirock beeped as it kept it's attention on where Lucario landed.

"HAVE A TASTE OF THIS!" Lucario roared, right as two glowing spheres of aura shot out of the dust and hit Regirock.

*BOOM!*

*BOOM!*

The Aura Spheres exploded against Regirock while seeming to barely do any damage, other than to chip off a few small pieces of rock.

"Use Work up and Bulk Up!" I yelled to Lucario, who's aura spiked a second later as he used the two moves. Work Up was a move where the user psyched themselves up to increase both their physical and special attack power, while Bulk Up tensed their muscles to increase attack power and defense. Combined with the slight increases to his attack from usig Meteor Mash, Lucario should be pretty buffed up by now.

"Now use Extreme Speed and Meteor Mash!" I roared.

*KABOOM!*

A hit more powerful than anything we had dealt to Regirock yet assaulted it as Lucario moved at speeds that it appeared he had teleported, the momentum of which he combined with Meteor Mash to make the attack all the more devastating.

"Now use Force Palm as many times as you can!" I ordered next, wanting to keep this momentum up.

Regirock was powerful, but slow. So my plan was to both hit it as many times as we can to keep it from retaliating, as well as to try and slow it down even more. Additionally, Force Palm had the possibility to paralyze whoever is hit with it, which would slow Regirock even more while making it easier to capture.

*CRASH!*

*CRASH!*

*CRASH!*

*CRASH!*

Lucario hammered Regirock over and over with Force Palm attacks, dealing fighting type damage to it along with, hopefully, paralyzing it. Except...

"..."

"Partner, I don't think this is working!" Lucario cried out, right as I felt Regirock amassing energy once again.

"LOOK OUT! ENDURE!" I cried, right as Regirock used another Charge Beam attack on Lucario from point blank.

Thankfully Lucario was able to brace himself at the last possible second, ensuring the attack didn't take him out as he was buried in a deep trench from the attack.

"YOU OK?!" I yelled out to him, to which I got a muffled reply of affirmation.

I then felt Lucario give off a pulse of energy, which was probably him using Heal Pulse, before he began to move through the ground by using Dig.

"I don't think I can paralyze it..." Lucario stated as he shot out of the ground beside me, right as Regirock turned to look at both of us.

"Why not?" I asked irritably, not at him, but from the situation.

"Because you actually need MUSCLES to be paralyze. I think that thing is just solid rock." Lucario stated as Regirock began to lumber towards us.

"Should we go Mega?" I asked him, holding up the hand that had my ring as I did so.

"Fuck no." Lucario snarled, seemingly more pissed about that than how the battle was going. "I have a dual type advantage over this thing! If I can't win as is, then what hope do I have for any other future battles?!"

"..."

Though I was momentarily stunned by his declaration, I then smirked while shaking my head wryly.

"Alright then. But remember that catching it is also a win for us!" I told him while holding up a second pokeball, an ultra ball at that.

"Right!"

"Now then, try to combine Meteor Mash with Close Combat!" I ordered him while also darting backwards to put some distance between myself and Regirock.

"RAAAAAAAAAAAA!"

*BOOM!*

*BOOM!*

*BOOM!*

*BOOM!*

*BOOM!*

*BOOM!*

Lucario roared as he hammered away at Regirock with his paws covered in steel type energy, dealing what should have been a significant amount of damage to the rock type Legendary while also continuously moving to keep it from retaliating.

"Yes..." I hissed while gripping the ultra ball in my hand, my palms growing increasingly sweaty as the tensions mounted. And then I saw it, cracks appearing in Regirock's body as more and more pebbles were chipped off.

"NOW! GO!" I roared while throwing the pokeball, which sucked Regirock inside as it connected.

*Clack!*

The ball hit the ground with an audible noise, and gave a single wiggle.

*CRACK!*

Again, cracks spread troughout the pokeball before it shattered, and Regirock reappeared once more.

"Damn it" I swore, before Regirock did something that left me stunned. It laid down on the ground.

"What the-?" I uttered in confusion, while Lucario was taking the chance to recouperate himself, as that last attack had strained him quite a bit while using a lot of energy.

But then...

""!!!""

Both Lucario and I gaped in disbelief as Regirock's body began to glow slightly, before the surrounding rocks and pebbles began to cover it like a blanket. And once it had finished doing....whatever it was it was doing, they all fell away as Regirock stood up once more, completely healed with brand new rocks.

"You've got to be fucking kidding me..." I swore in disbelief as all of the damage Lucario had dealt it until now was undone. Hell, the damned thing even added a Helix fossil to it's body from the surrounding rocks!

"FUCK!" Lucario yelled in anger as Regirock turned it's gaze back towards him.

"You need a hand?" I asked while glancing towards my pokeballs, specifically thinking of either Blastoise or Sceptile. Or hell, maybe BOTH at this rate.

"FUCK NO!" Lucario roared as he prepared to face Regirock yet again.

"Beep."

In the face of Lucario's refusal to back dow, Regirock stomped it's foot to create a small mountain ridge under Lucario's feet, in the strongest Stone Edge I had ever seen.

"LIKE THAT'LL BE ENOUGH!" Lucario roared as he launched himself at Regirock from atop it, his usual composure gone as he focused solely on defeating the Legendary. He was so angry and focused on defeating Regirock, that I couldn't even synchronize my aura with his to fight with him.

"Meteor Mash on it's arm! If it can just repair itself, then focus on doing as much damage as possible in as short a time as possible!" I told him.

"RAAAAAAAAAAA!" Lucario raored as he did just that, while Regirock responded in kind by using Hammer Arm at the same time.

*BOOOOOOOOOM!*

The two attacks collided as they fought for supremacy, before Lucario was sent flying back from the sheer power of Regirock.

The Legendary then used Lock-On to ensure it's next attack connected, before charging with surprising speed through the ravine right at Lucario to use the move Superpower.

"TAKE IT!" I yelled to Lucario, who braced himself for the hit as Regirock tackled him with the force comparable to an actual meteor.

"NOW USE COUNTER!"

"RAAAAA!"

*BOOM!*

Despite the damage he had taken, Lucario's attack sent Regirock flying as it was hit with twice the amount of power that it had hit Lucario with just now.

"NOW USE DRAIN PUNCH COMBINED WITH CLOSE COMBAT!"

"RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!"

With what little strength he had left, Lucario launched himself at Regirock before barraging it with a series of hits that not only damaged it, but also restored his own energy with each one.

"Beep beep beep beep beep!"

"GET OUT OF THERE!" I yelled to him as Regirock began beeping rapidly, right before Lucario was hit with another Charge Beam from point blank that launched him into the air.

Even though he had managed to drain energy from Regirock, Lucario was still significantly damaged himself as he flew through the air. But I knew he wasn't out yet, even if all he had at this point was sheer willpower as he angled himself to face Regirock.

"FINISH THIS!" I yelled as Lucario used his stolen energy to dreate a small aura platform in midair, using it to launch himself back to the ground at Regirock.

""REVERSAL!"" We both cried out as Lucario used his last resort move.

Reversal was a move that became more powerful the closer the user was to defeat. So not only was it akin to Lucario's strongest move right now, he also poured every single drop of his remaining and stolen enegry into it to maximize the damage done.

"Beep bop." Regirock beeped as it watched Lucario hurtle towards it like a meteor, and I could feel it preparing to use another attack itself.

"HEY SHITHEAD!" I yelled at it, drawing it's attention towards me.

The shift in focus was brief, but it more than enough for Lucario to deliver his final attack.

*KABOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!"

The earth shook, and a mushroom dust cloud rose into the air as Lucario hit Regirock with his strongest attack yet, driving both of them into the ground while also forming a massive crater.

I rushed forward as quickly as I could to investigate, preparing to send out another pokemon if need be before I found both Lucario and Regirock in the middle of the crater.

Lucario was battered and bruised as he was barely able to even remain conscious, while Regirock was lying down and numerous cracks had spread throughout it's body from the attack.

"Beep boop..." It beeped unenergetically, while I pulled out another ultra ball.

"GO!" I roared while chucking it at the Legendary, hitting it and sucking it inside.

*Clack.*

Again, the pokeball clattered to the ground where it began to wiggle back and forth.

"Come on...." I groaned as I watched it wiggle, while Lucario also put all of his remaining focus on the pokeball.

*Ding.*
