On May 13, 2001, the world changed.
Towers materialized across the globe, and humanity discovered a cruel twist: sleep now meant being dragged into Olamir, a hyper-realistic dreamworld of dungeons and monsters. Every sensation—from the metallic taste of blood to the screams of dying players—felt indistinguishable from reality. Some survived; others died and were temporarily barred from dreaming, their minds crazed like a punished dog, smelling an unreachable treat near its snout.
But a rare few, like Edwin Campbell, were Dream-Deprived. Their ancestors had developed a biological defense against the Towers’ influence, rendering them unable to dream—and thus, immune to Olamir’s horrors. While the world grew addicted to the lethal game (now a cultural and economic juggernaut by 2046), Edwin spent his life yearning for even a single dream.
Then, the impossible happened: he dreamed. But the vision was nothing like Olamir’s manufactured hellscape—and before he could unravel its meaning, he and his friend Devonte were violently sucked into the game.
