Maldor:Time's Edge

cyrnel
Cal is a mere pageboy, unnoticed by the world, bound by his insignificance. His life is a monotonous shuffle between meaningless tasks, weighed down by the crushing reality of his position. But when he inadvertently stumbles upon an ancient, forbidden text—one that pulses with a life of its own—everything changes. A simple touch, a single word spoken in desperation, and Cal finds himself bound to a ring—an object as unassuming as it is unyielding. The ring, once unnoticed, becomes a symbol of something more: time. Just enough to make a difference. The ink on the page hums with a voice that is not of this world—cold, distant, and full of regret. A voice that speaks of forgotten knowledge and offers the promise of something greater. As Cal’s ambition begins to grow, so too does his hunger for more: more control, more purpose. The whispers in his mind darken, coaxing him into ever-deeper secrets, into choices that will challenge his morality, his very individuality. In a world ruled by bloodlines, birthrights and innate talent, Cal is nothing. But with his bestowed power, he has an "edge". A chance to rise above his station, to claim a life what was never meant for him. Yet, as he grows, so does the fear that what he is becoming is more dangerous than the life he left behind. "Maldor:Time's Edge" is a story of a man who dared to grasp at something beyond his reach, only to find that the shadows he sought to control may be the very ones that consume him. Author's Note: This novel is the first story I will be telling from a bigger world that I built: Maldor. Your reviews mean a lot to me, both for improvement and guidance. Before you start, I want this story to be interesting, yes, but also a bit more grounded and realistic in itself. At least, I'll try to make it that way. Please bear that in mind when you begin reading.
